A good friend of mine is coming over to watch the game on thursday as he is from Aalborg and was asking me about pubs to go in before the game, around the ground.
I usually end up having a few in different places on the short walk from the Seven Sister tube station and then in the Bricklayers OR corner pin and I know a few on here go to the Bell n Hare, BUT what is the general feeling with away fans at these places and others on European nights?
Are they even let in?
It is Aalborg and I feel they'll be welcome
BUT
any comments would be appreciated as i don't want to send him somewhere where they'll not get in.

Just about every pub close to the ground operates a 'Home Supporters Only' policy, I think. The only exceptions I can think of offhand are the Gilpin Bell and possibly the Antwerp Arms (five minutes' walk up Church Road, opposite Park Lane). If you're with him the bouncers may make an exception, though.

As SS said.

I pretty much always have to show my shirt or ticket to get in to the B&H. Well I used to anyway, a new face means they'll want to see his colours.

Seven Sisters way should be a little more leanient, but certainly the Corner Pin & Bircklayers will be, I imagine, no away fans at all

BTW, for anyone wanting a meal before the game, the Cirrik, opposite the old brewery on the High Road just before you get to the ground (assuming you're coming from Seven Sisters' direction), does the best Turkish food in the area. Trust me on this.

The Park next to Northumberland Park station allows away fans. it is a pretty big pub but the beer in not great and it always takes ages to get served. That apart away fans welcome.

Aaaah the Elmhurst. A former haunt of mine. I lived on Church Road for a while Mike, handy for the home games!

Haven't been in there in years. They used to feature topless darts back in the 70s.

Who in their right mind would want to sit in a pub watching a couple of unshaven, overweight boozehounds playing darts without their...

Ah, hold on...

Bricklayers is usually home only but there were a few Blackpool fans in there from the cup game, in their strip!

That's home supporters only too. Was in there for Blackpool game and 4 of their supporters came in as they fancied a pre-game pint. It was two married couples. The manager apologised, but said that the local authority have said that they cannot serve away fans. The Blackpool fans said that our website say that the pub was identified as one where away fans were welcome. I felt sorry for them as they left looking for a pub!

That's new in this season, then; I go there to watch games on Sky and for London derbies there are always a few Gooners and Spammers and a lot of good-natured banter. There were certainly a few away supporters in there last season.

I was going to say it seems like a borough-wide diktat from our beloved council, but the Bell is in Enfield, just.

If anyone is planning to be in southern California, the game is on Fox Soccer at 11.30am. I'm meeting a friend in Santa Barbara, but hope to catch the game beforehand in Champs Sports Bar in Oxnard.
