Where to eat: Wembley Edition

We've had quite a few trips to Wembley recently, and I almost always get something to eat but I'm struggling to find somewhere decent and good value near Wembley. Last week I was in a rush and grabbed a luke-warm hot-dog from one of the kiosks on the concourse. Same story today but I saw that they sold Pizza at one of their kiosks so I decided to go there but on inspection it looked over priced for the portion size so I went for option C, Chicken and Chips. For some reason I was expecting something like Chick King but all I got was three chicken nuggets and some awful fries and a coke and not much change from a tenner.

Last year I did try The Handmand Burger Co. in the London Designer Outlet and it was fairly decent but not amazing but they were so slow. I'm not expecting McDonalds but FFS were they slaughtering cows to order in the back? Not really cheaper than the stadium food but decent quality and food size.

It just made me realise what good value Chick King is. You can get something decent for £4, I've paid twice that and got something far worse. So SC, have you discovered anything decent near Wembley? Preferably takeaway that can be eaten walking or standing

I don't know why people feel the need to eat at or around football stadiums. There seems to be a fine line between shite food and rip off prices. Paid £8 for a bratwurst hotdog and coke last week just outside the ground. £3.30 for a coke in the ground today. Will be better preparing myself for future trips this season. While we're at it, I saw a pick n mix on the concourse today. Along with the blokes walking round selling Krispy Kremes it just all gone a bit weird.

Going to a game is a six hour round trip and given I probably ate an hour or two before leaving I don't want to wait 8hrs between meals. I also think it's nice to give something back, economically, to the local community who have to deal with the disruption

I saw the Krispy Kreme stand and carried on walking, the prices were ridiculous even for Krispy Kreme. Didn't see a pick and mix but they had one in the west stand when I sat there last season.

Fair enough something for the local community (although one man's disruption is another man's gold mine) but the stuff inside the ground is big business. Yep, you gotta eat with that kind of journey, but I swear some just eat because it's so convienient and easy. And for that you pay through the nose. And it's just not football food! I felt like I was at a theme park. Just something doesn't sit right with it all. Being on the winter weather. We need people to be more miserable heading to a game, not from it :)

I help this Mrs run this site...www.LondonCheapEats.com #SCFamilyPlug

None actually at Wembley yet but plenty on the way in (depending where you're coming from), go to Explore to browse the map.

If anyone's been to anywhere decent round Wembley (that's not a chain Nando's etc. and under £8) let me know and I'll give it an official Spurs Cheap Eats review to go up on the site (y)

If you come out of Wembley park, then there's a few places on the street to the right. A chicken shop which is cheap, next door is a place called Lahore Flavours which does decent Indian style kebabs, wrapped in fresh cooked nan bread various options for under a fiver.

I imagine most people eat because of the time. Even if I cut it fine, I'd be out of the house for 5hrs and I live in North London and a lot of fans come from east Hertfordshire and Essex if not further.

That's not to say they wouldn't eat anyway. We're conditioned to associate food and entertainment, lots of people eat at the cinema even though they probably live 10 mins away they're happy to pay £5 for a bag of popcorn of dubious quality on top of a £10+ ticket. They're all mad, or have more money than sense

Don't be football snobs. I bet if you were invited to the Cheese Room you've be on it quicker than you can say GazzaGorganzola

Beers=need food.

Not just boring English or American food but foreign food. It's the only thing that'll do it.

Paid £2 for a small bottle of water & refused to pay £10 for a burger from a salmonella van outside the stadium. Saw Lidl & bought Water, 2 espresso drinks & 2 cheese twists, for £3. Best lunch ever for that price

got a nice home cooked curried goat, rice and peas for a fiver on the road to the west of the stadium. wasnt quite as much as the jamaican outside WHL but tasty nonetheless. He was cooking some chicken on a drum barbie outside at the time, looked nice.

I got a coffee from a place called Doppio between Wembley Central and Wembley Stadium.

The girl that served me was fit. Will return.

Inside the stadium is ridiculous in terms of the prices and American food. Also, I'd love to know the rationale behind them not letting you even take the bottle of water which they did against Chelsea.

I'm not really drinking at the minute but saw they had a real ale stand the other day. Anyone tried it?

Wok 'N Roe on Bridge Road, did pretty decent fish and chips and weren't too expensive.

Is this the one with the guy with the horn(not an erection) and the reggae music? I may or may not have spent quite a bit of time there after the Chelsea game. Was a great laugh. Jerk chicken was good too. Plus the team there were up for a laugh.
