Move to 'general' if needs be, but I thought it would be interesting to have a Spurs Chat thread on opponents we actually like.

For me:

Everton. Yeah they moan like bitches at literally everything, but I feel some form of affinity with them due to our history of being top flight regulars, successful in the past, and overshadowed by unseemly neighbours. As long as they're behind us, I tend to wish them well.

I'll keep this general by saying 'opponents' instead of Prem opponents just to keep it topical for a while, but I do appreciate Forest too.

Everton. Never had anything against them, and quite similar to us in some respects, both have history and both have had their main rivals be better than them in recent history.

Errr, ones that lose? Does that count?

Failing that Everton, good solid side, play good football and if / when you beat them you know you must have played well.

Brighton - home town
Wimbledon - used to watch them at Selhurst park and what happened to them was so wrong
Bournemouth - although wilshere and the potential of Terry arriving will change that
Fulham
Ipswich

There's definitely a natural affinity with Everton. Have a few mates who support them. Similar take on things, history, playing ethos, etc. Don't like Koeman, but he's doing well

Hull. Lots of nice ex Spurs, like their manager.

Want to like Palace as they're my local team now, but their chairman and successive managers make that difficult

Outside, Ipswich, Coventry and Torquay because family

Watford because I live there and all the Watford fans I have met seem to be down to earth with no animosity towards us.

The North East teams given I live up that way now. Their fans appreciate decent football and the majority seem to be positive about Spurs. Probably due to the North East teams playing horrendous football.

Of all the opponents to play against Tottenham Hotspur, I'm probably most partial to whichever lads play Bibs in 11 vs 11 training matches at Hotspur Way.

Palace are my second team.

Millwall because they're shit, everyone hates them, and half my mates support them. Also they have a fan known as Murderer Dave.

Bournemouth because they're a good club and I like the manager.

Brighton for Chris, and because I have family in Brighton and I really like the city.

Fulham for their ground, their quiet fans who always let us sing louder than them and their friendly team who always let us win against them. Lovely old ground. And for their association with Kit Symons, a very nice bloke I'm reasonably well acquainted with.

Norwich for their kit and generally very "English club" feeling to them.

I always feel like I should want to like Everton, but their fans are utterly awful, probably even worse than Liverpool fans for their entitled screams of injustice every time a throw-in goes against them. Also, they're always a tough game and we rarely win at Goodison because they always seem to get themselves up for the game against us.
