I quite like Brighton, a good mate supports them so I watched a few games with him. Now I keep an eye on how they are doing. Any club without has a “no assholes” signings policy gets my vote. They also have a great youth system, are pretty sustainable as a club too, not in massive debt. The fans are pretty decent too, I often get sent snippets from North Stand Chat forum, amusing bunch.
I don’t ‘like’ anyone in the top 2 divisions - in fact some weeks I don’t even like Tottenham! In the lower leagues I feel no dislike towards anyone - not even MK Dons as I’m from that neck of the woods and know that a huge portion of their fanbase are kids. I keep an eye on the Cobblers (Dad’s team) and Stevenage (not far from where I live now) but to be honest the driving force of how I feel about most clubs is their fanbase, and most club’s fanbases these days jump on board the shite-banter bus any time we slip up so, as the song suggests, fuck ‘em all.
There are, however, a lot of clubs I respect and who I don’t like to see mismanaged by crap owners, but that’s different.
Swindon Town for me, for many good reasons.
1. Lived there from age 2 to 8
2. They humiliated Arsenal 3-1 in the 1969 League Cup Final.
3. They have been managed by more ex-Spurs players than anyone else I can think of off hand:
Glen Hoddle
Dave Mackay
John Gorman
Ossie Ardiles
Dave Tuttle
Tony Galvin
Les Allen
It's a pity that managerial history is contaminated by Paolo Di Canio though.
