... here's a place to speculate and ruminate on our prospective fortunes against Portsmouth tomorrow.

Team News

Us: King, Rocha, Bale, Gardner, Ekotto all expected to be missing again.

Them: Ex-Spur Sean Davis and ex-Goon Lauren (hamstringping), Bible-punching Leroy Primus (kneecrook) and Martin Cranie (legbust) all expected to miss the game.

Form

We are on a WLDWDL run at the moment. The Brum loss (thanks Berb!) was our first under Wendy. We have no away wins and we are playing a side unbeaten at home. We need to stop dropping points from winning positions, as we lead the PL with 19 lost so far.

Pompey's high placing is supported by their away form rather than what they do at Fratton Park. 5 draws and two losses. But they are on the PL's longest run of being unbeaten in 11 games this season.

Runes

We've only lost once to them in three seasons now, but they look much stronger this time. Why couldn't we be playing them during the ACN? One the plus side they've failed to score in 4 out of 5 home games. The exception was the 7-4 win over Reading.

Down there in the League it's Portsmouth with 7 wins, Spurs 4 and 6 draws. In the PL only they lead two wins to one with one draw. Portsmouth have the most home draws in the PL this season, while we have the most away draws. Guess what's going to happen?

Adjudication

It's the scouser Chris Foy! A PL ref since 2001, reaching the pinnacle of his career to date by reffing the Stevenage v Kidderminster FA Trophy final in May. We had him for the 4-0 win over Derby so that's a good sign.

In 16 games this season he's shown 43 yellow and 2 red cards. Last season he gave the penalty in the Zokora dive incident when we won 2-1 at WHL. So two games and two wins for us - one against today's opposition. Could be worse.

Predictions

Lawro: This has the makings of a good game. Tottenham had a good win last week and have players returning but I still fancy Portsmouth to win this one.Pompey will lose lots of players to the African Cup of Nations soon. Prediction: 2-1

Skysports.com's prediction: Portsmouth 1 Tottenham 1.

Me: No sign of any improvement tactically from us yet so I think the best we can hope for is a draw. But we need to score first.

Stats 'n' Facts

POMPEY are overtaking THE SPAMMERS as a Spurs Old Boys' Home with Davis, Mendes, Pamarot and Judas in their ranks.

This could be PASCAL SHIMBOMBA's ((c) D Pleat) 50th appearance for us, coinciding with the number of times he's lost his man at dead ball situations this season.

TOTTENHAM lead the PL in CONCEDING GOALS IN INJURY TIME with 6 so far. So don't leave early.

PORTSMOUTH have won ALL SEVEN PL GAMES in which they've scored first.

The shock of being told to lose weight or lose his place caused TOM HUDDLESTONE to immediately drop five kilos. Players are advised to use the toilets in the administrative block.

JERMAIN DEFOE has finally signed a new contract. It was the only way he could get hold of an iPhone.

Guess what? DIDIER ZOKORA is still one goal short of his first goal for Tottenham.

That mixture sums the player up exactly. Very funny.
