My opinion...

Mourinho won't take it, O'Neill won't leave Villa, Big Sam won't leave Toon. Even mentioning Wenger or Fergusson is a joke. Scolari has already turned us down once.

Don't want Shearer thank you. Jol not got the tactical knowledge to do it.

Doesn't leave many options... George Graham, Glenn Hoddle, Paul Jewell and old Real boss who's name escapes me!

Go for Jurgen I say!

We'll go for all the big names, and they'll laugh in our faces. We'll end up with some plank like fat Sam/Curbs/Southgate/Ince/Pearce.

Which creditable manager would touch the England job with a barge pole? Nowt to gain with our bunch of clowns. Don't fool yourselves that a top guy like Maureen or Scolari could work wonders with the same players.

I really want Jose but doubt he'll take it, the only English person I'd have is Glenn Hoddle but doubt he'd go there again. God help us if any of them take over - Big Sam, Curbs, Southgate or Pearce.

Fabio Capello for me.

Sure, we'll play negative football, but we'll play it well.

Under Capello we'll be able to keep the ball for sure. He won't take any shit from under performers or the press.

I say Capello only because I believe the man I really want - Jose Mourinho - won't take it.

Special One first, Capello second, Hoddle third.

Wouldn't surprise me if they put Shearer in charge.

Lets face it, can't do much worse than the previous occupant.

There's only 3 candidates that stand out who would actually consider it and might actually do a good job and thats Mourinho, Capello and O'Neill. If we dont get one of those then we may end up with someone like Allardyce or Curbishley and so the vicious circle of failure will begin again.

I could see Mourinho taking the England job. If his family is settled in London then maybe the England job would be perfect for him. Also Mourinho seems the type to enjoy a challenge. What better challenge than attempting to transform our prima donnas into a world class team.

I agree and he can keep the press on his side better than most other managers, which is one of the curses of being England manager. He would also get more time to spend with his family whilst being paid shed loads of dosh.

MOurinho is who I would like, but I reckon it will be given to someone who hasn't one anything other than the league cup..

What has O'Neill done in his managerial career to make him the favourite to get this job?
Because I don't think he has done anything that special that would make him loads better than McClaren... (I don't really know much about him to be honest, although as a Footy Critic, he is very likable!)

Chris Houghton for England!

In all seriousness tho, why do people suggest O'Neill? He's happy at Villa and he's finally getting his team to work under him. He's be silly to walk away into a no-win job like England.

I'd like Mourinho but I think someone in the mould of Hiddink is more likely.

I personally don't rate O'Neill either.

As manager of Celtic you automatically get a 50-50 chance of winning stuff up there

I jsut don't understand what O'Neill has done, for him to be favourite, at least with Mourinho he has won a fair amount of things!!!
