Less than a month away now. I've always found the season after a World Cup to be a good one.

If Poch can get the best out of Lamela, Soldado and Paulinho, and if Eriksen continues his progress then the sky's the limit. Are we a sleeping giant? Will we storm the Europa League and qualify for the CL? Could happen. Our best 11 on a good day can beat anyone.

Is it oxytocin or some other chemical secreted by the posterior pituitary gland that makes women forget about the pain of childbirth so the poor dears get knocked up again without any memory of how painful it was last time around?

I think there is something similar in Spurs fans biochemistry.

Well here we go again lads...I'm up for it...weighed down only by boundless unbridled optimism, fresh naieve belief and a bad case of selective amnesia....here I come (y)

As we stand today, I am struggling to get too excited about this season. I'm hopeful we will add the much needed quality to the squad and move out the players deemed not good enough.. until this happens, I'm rather subdued and uninterested, which is a first for me in 30 years supporting this club.

I'm excited, and have the same level as optimism as we did when we got AVB on board. It's good to have some stability at the club again and I like the pictures i've seen so far of the players bonding during pre-season. Last year we looked like a bunch of misfits but it seems as though the lads have gelled and bonded which should only improve us. The only thing that's missing now is a King/Parker/VDV-esque strong leader and motivator on the pitch. Otherwise we have a good squad and with a couple of additions I think we'll do well this season, I think top 4 will be beyond us but a good cup run and top 6 and i'll consider the season a success.

I for one can't wait for the season to start, and yet again, despite everything that's happened in the 30 years i've supported the club, I feel that this could be the start of something special.

COYS!

I can't say I have massively high expectations this season but knowing poch style I'm at least looking forward to us pressing the shit out of teams and really getting into the faces of the opposition.
I'm also really looking forward to us not getting spanked every time we play a decent team. Last season was just humiliating.

Yes I'm excited for us and for the quality of the competition in general. It could be a really exciting race for the title next season as well even if we aren't in it.

I’m more optimistic about the new season (with what I've heard from the manager), hoping for a very stable season. No changes, no problems off the field, just decent performances, and players not giving up after 1min. Oh and the player we bought last season proving their worth, and a few additions in the areas we need to address.
Cancelling all media subscriptions this season, and only watching spurs games online (if I can’t make the game), and listening to BBC radio commentary of other matches. There is a serious amount of wank from Sky, Talksport and BT regarding the Top 5. Would be nice seeing City winning it again, the rest would hard to put up with. And Liverpool having the same shit season we had last season post Bale.

I feel like we have a competent manager in place and the players are reacting well. I also think expectations will be far more realistic coming into this season. All the media attention will be on utd etc.

Massive opening game against west ham, that should be a cracker.

I'm a little bit 'Meh' about this coming season. Not exactly excited but by no means terrified. I'll be happy if we can once again mount a strong challenge for a top four place and I have a good feeling about our new manager. He says all the right things and has by all accounts got the players on side, which I can tell from Hugo's excellent contract extension and the general rumblings from players like Lamela and Sodado.

This season is going to be a bit of a voyage of discovery for all of us. I only hope we can all stay on board and not get the collywobbles when things go slightly wrong, as they will from time to time, as sure as shit. That's the nature of the beast.

Keep calm and carry on.

When I think of our upcoming game against the pikeys, I think of that wonderful scene in one of the superman films where he loses his powers and gets the crap kicked out of him in that diner by some bully, and at the end of the movie, with his powers fully restored, he re-visits the same diner and the same bully tries to muller him again...

Payback is a bitch....

Not really, Poch might do decent job, but our squad isn't up to much and seems to fall behind even more compared to teams above.

excited about: Seeing us play with some structure & fluidity. See us press the crap out of teams, especially at the lane. Seeing Lamela deliver play as many games this season & prove his doubters wrong! Finally see us score some goals from set pieces! Hearing the white hart lane faithful belting out the classics every home game & finally becoming the 12th man for the mighty spurs! Seeing a happy, united squad playing for each other
Not so excited about: Media & fan pressure on Poch, I for one hope we stick by him realizing it takes a while to instil a new style of play. Worried about our dear daniel playing one-up-manship with key signings (now & in Jan).
Other than that ....roll on wet spam! I can't wait....COYS!!!

Are we a sleeping giant? .

Yeah, we are a sleeping giant, floundering in the lower leagues just waiting to get into the big time again.

No. We are one of the top clubs in the premier league.

Yeah I think it'll be a good season - certainly entertaining. Hoping for big seasons from Lamela and Soldado to shut up the naysayers! Most excited by the prospect of playing exciting attacking football again!

The Scum have 3 World Cup winners.
Liverpool are buying everything with a Pulse.
Chelsea have added some real high quality players.
City too.
Manure now have a real manager (although I still think he'll ultimately fail) and plenty of new high profile signings.
We have an unproven manager with last seasons failed signings and, wooptydoo, Ben fucking Davies.

I'll go. I'll cheer. But another part of my soul has died again.

I'll never forget our champions league season. The come back against Young Boys, stuffing Inter at home, the almost impossible come back almost happening. Beating Milan away..
Sorry folks but you'll be telling your kids about that because it won't happen again for another generation.

It's a difficult one for me. I look back to three years ago and reminisce over how the team was full of characters and classy footballers - King, Bale, Modric, VDV - I loved them all. It's the first time in a long while I don't particularly feel a connection with the players, however your Eriksens, Lamelas, Soldados and Vertonghens need to step up and under Poch it's a fresh start for everybody. I feel we must avoid defeat at Upton Park, and get an early win at the Lane, then things start to look a little differently.
