After a fantastic run. I just had a conversation with a friend and we just agreed that no one has had a bad start to the season, but everyone has done their share. With 10 games in, who has been our best player so far?

Lloris - quite east to understand why. Followed by dembele based on last 3/4 performances. Paulinho and Rose can stake a claim for good consistency too.

Can't really put my finger on one, there's been a good few players having outstanding moments. It's been more of a team effort than last year for sure, which I'm pretty damn happy with.

I'd say Paulinho. Not at his best today, but he's been excellent thus far in pretty all the games we've played.

MOTM against Palace, real good goal scoring positions against Swansea, the winner against Cardiff, a few goals in the Cups as well.

Dembele a close second for me, but if he keeps up the form of today for the most part - he'll be player of the season.

I'm sorry, but Hugo wins hands down. We had the best defensive record in Europe (I dunno if we still do), and yet our defence still looked shaky, with Dawson making his mistake per game, Naughton playing out of position, Vertonghen looking disillusioned, Kaboul ravaged, Rose with his club of haters and Walker the same, plus Chiriches with a shaky debut.

Obviously I've exaggerated a bit there, I've actually been really impressed with how tight we've looked this season, but really, the opposition do get in, and Lloris always stops them, and does whatever is humanely possible, and more, to stop the balls going in.

Other key players so far have been:
- Paulinho: constant running, quick feet and mind, and decent passing range.
- Dembélé: was shaky first game, but has improved leaps and bounds since then, and is back to his best.
- Rose: firmly believe that he has shifted all critics, and now that he is out, we realise how much we miss him, his constant width and willingness to beat the man and get a ball in is what's needed in AVB's system.
- Townsend: really looks like he's up'd his game this year, and has shown more than I ever expected from him. He's just going to get better and better as the season goes on. I think he could end up being the preferred left-wing choice this season, if we don't spend big in January.

Paulinho and Lloris are our best players I think, but I went for Paul because he has more of an influence on games.

Dembele, Townsend and Eriksen are all up there as contenders so far. Remains to be seen if they can keep it up throughout the season.

I reckon Rose, Lamela and Capoue will all have their chance to really stamp themselves on the team too. And of course we have the likes of Kaboul, Sandro and Holtby who haven't had a huge amount of playing time yet. Amazing to look at the strength of our squad really.

Lloris. No doubt about it. His excellent command of the box has saved us more points this season than any attacking player has won us. And he's world class, without a doubt one of the best in the league.

Dembele frustrates the hell out of me. I agree he was our best player today but he beats 2 or 3 players and then he just wants to stop and start again. He needs to learn to play with his head up to become a truly great player imo.

I remember reading Lyon fans' opinions when Lloris was coming to spurs. The recurring message was "he'll win/save you at least 10 points per season".. I was struggling to envisage a keeper being of that much importance throughout a season that he was that highly regarded.

Now I can see what they meant......

Think siggy has had a blinding start to the season against most expectations to be fair to him

Lloris for me.

He has dictated the style of play for the team, we have a fantastic defensive record so far and although our defenders do give opposition chances, they still have to beat HUGO.

I have loved Dembele's form this last few games, back to his best.

Surprise packages have been Rose and Townsend, who have fitted in beautifully.

Paulinho for me, with just one little downside-that his unfamiliarity with the pace and intensity of the PL at this stage means he tires in the last 15 minutes or so, but his contribution is immense both on and off the ball, incredible work rate combined with intelligence and vision

Lloris without much doubt. Paulinho prob second.

However our team this year is so much more balanced. Not many bad players, if any

Very telling that so far this season there are quite a few names you could put forward as our best player, it varies each game.

This shows we are developing as a real team rather than one player being the start and end of such discussion - a-la last season
