Some are rejoicing,
Some like Kemsley are laughing,
Some have a sly smile like Levy,
Some sang like White Hart lane,
Some cry and wonder what the future holds.
Who knows, he be a brave man to step into Jol's boots.

But who really was the best manager out of the 11 over the last 20 years. We know what the stats say but what does Spurs Community say now that Jol has gone.

El Tel was another one of these managers that should have been given more time. 11 managers in 20 years, not too clever in my opinion. When you get a good one you should hold on to him. Hopefully in two years time we are talking about Ramos being the best over the last 20 years. In the meantime, I think that Jol was and would have gone onto win the UEFA Cup last season if it weren't for Steed's brainless owngoal to hand the advantage to Ramos in more ways the one.

Not going to vote, the list makes depressing reading, so many managers, so few trophies, unfortunately our boards over the 20 years and a big chunk of our support don't seem to be able to make the obvious conclusion.

Unfortunately for "El Tel" his off-field activities were his nemesis.

Plus when he was a player @ WHL he was one of the
"boo-boys" who were given merciless stick from the supporters.

I voted El Tel, because he won the FA Cup under difficult circumstances to say the least. Perhaps some of those difficulties were self-inflicted, but we survived and kept our place in the top flight.

I also remember going to the Lane in the 60s and hearing the stick TV got, I wasn't old enough in those days to have strong opinions myself about the correctness or otherwise to it, I was just a happy youngster who took absolute delight in winning the Cup in 67 with Venables helping us beat his old club Chelsea.

You are only as good as your last result in all walks of life... If a salesman shows great promise for 2 years, then for 6 months doesn't take any orders, he will be canned, that's life, you cannot drift on your reputation. I liked Jol as a person, but did not rate him as a manager, as he too often tried to shut up shop when sitting on a lead. I hope the new guy Ramos goes for the throat, if we are 3-1 up at Stamford bridge, with Chelsea on the rack, throw on a striker and close the game out.

Jol too often chose sides to get a draw, and not a result, that was his downfall.

Bit of a weighted poll this surely... hmmm - I WONDER WHO WILL WIN???

I voted for Venables. I think Graham did a good job too. Both had inferior squads and budget, yet achieved success and delivered trophies.

"weighted"? Those are the managers and the facts are the facts. Venables won the FA Cup but fell short in the league.

Jol aimed top 6 got top 5 twice but failed to beat the top teams often enough. Little did he know that Mendes' "goal" would still effectively be thrown at him as a failure to win agaimst the top 4.

He did however have the best statistical record of all these managers and achieve in the Premiership so I guess, yes, it is "weighted".

With surely the Champions league top 4 still being the target of the board before they cash-in, how long will it be before Ramos gets the treatment?

Oh come on! We still on that? Ok lets give Jol that one, added to his Chelsea win and that's what 2 out of 24 or something like that.

Anyway, I wasn't 'dissin' your poll, simply pointing out it's somewhat obvious who'll win.
He did have the best statistical record, but as we all know, he also had a substantially better sqaud of players i.e. board support in the transfer market, than the two I mentioned.

Also if Jol was about in the early 90's his two 5th place finishes was have meant diddle-squat compared to an FA cup win.

That's one thing that was very disappointing under Jol... the lack of achievement against the top 4 teams. Then again, that is the difference between top 5 and top 4 , and even more so the difference between winning a cup and going out in the semis. Hopefully the players dare to win against the top 4 under Ramos.

So you're one of the idiots who cares more about beating Arsenal than any other result. As long as we beat Arsenal its a good season right?

Incase you hadn't realised (which I assume you haven't as you do seem a tad short sighted), the Premier League was far less competitive during the 90s than it is now, and it just got taken to a whole new level with the recent influx of TV revenue.

Valid point... But the name-calling doesn't exactly build up your case.
