I think a lot of my generation remembers the great Dutch players of our youth, so they've always been a team i watch out for, as well as the few Dutch connections our club has had over the years (still miss the Big Man).

Previous World Cups where we've been knocked out, i've tended to quietly root for the team that knocked us out, hoping that at least we could claim to have been beaten by the eventual winners, so i think i might go with that again and hope beyond hope that the wonderfully energetic and hard working brand of football the Costa Ricans have been putting out carries on. It was a toss up between them and Chile as they are both hugely entertaining but in totally different ways.

Chile or France. Chile because they're looking incredibly strong and France because I've got them in the crazy work WC pool and erm... Lloris too :shifty:.

As long as the following traditionally typical cheating, shirt grabbing, diving, faking injuries, time wasting, ref pressuring nations don't win

-Uruguay
-Brazil
-Portugal
-Argentina
-Italy

Add to that list Russia purely because I have a passionate distaste towards the place.

These nations are all on my racist, bigot, exclusion list

France because the thought of a Spurs player being a World Cup winning captain is tantalizing.

I had originally put Belgium as my second team mainly because of the Spurs players, but this is a very good point! I'll also start rooting for France I think.

Jurgen because I've lived in the States for 23 years, followed by Belgium. I would get behind Holland, too, but I can't stand Robben's theatrics! Keeping an eye on Algeria as well.

USA because I lived there for a bit and loved it and also Belgium for the spurs mob.

Other than that would be good if it was someone new that won it

Germany. Because of great football and old cultural ties between Sweden and Germany. Was hoping for Italy to make it because I would have liked it for Pirlo to finish his international career in the play offs.

Liking what I'm seeing from France too.

Argentina. Partly because I believe Messi deserves a WC winners medal in his career.

Mostly though because I've got money riding on them. :):nailbiting:.

In order of the remaining teams it'd be Germany, Columbia, Netherlands.

England were probably my second team.... I don't really like them but I'm sucked in by the drama that always surrounds that team. Delusions of adequacy is the term I'd generally use to describe the England team

Not sure I get your drift - are you excluding them because you're a racist bigot, or you think that the hundreds of millions of people in those countries are all racist bigots?

;)

Yeah I'm supporting the US now. Not sure why but I was cheering them on last night.

I always used to enjoy watching the Dutch teams in the World Cup.. from the Gullit/Van Basten era, to that great side they had in '98 with Bergkamp, Kluivert, Davids, Seedorf, Van Der Sar, the De Boers etc etc... but struggle to cheer on a team with ****s like Van Persie and Robben in it.

I have a soft spot for Japan too, as they are usually such a technically proficient and excellent passing team. But again this WC they're back to being very poor.

I think rather than have a second team now, I'm just enjoying the whole spectacle and seeing how it turns out. I would like to see the likes of Germany and Brazil crash out purely because that Muller has such a punchable face, and I'd like to see Neymar humbled. I guess I'd like to see Messi fulfill his destiny and win his World Cup and take his place alongside, if not above, Maradona.
