Previous owners of that title such as Sterling, Barkley, Townsend, Zaha, Rodwell and Lennon know the backlash can be quick and brutal

Somehow I think he is much more down to earth than all those mentioned and he'll not let it get to his head.

Does anyone still care about national football teams? As much a farce as is nationhood in general. He's a rather good Spurs player. Fuck England.

They listed a bunch of players, Sans Sterling, that haven't produced in the top flight. Harry has. Not saying he will be the GOAT, but pretty sure he has already produced more than Rodwell, Zaha, Barkley, and Lennon ever had or will in a single season.

England underachieving lately is probably why alot of people feel the way you do, I'm sure. But national teams are not only a source of pride for fans, but even more so for the players. Let's be real, every player wants to play for their national team in the World Cup and fans really want to see their national team win it.

For me, I REALLY want to see the US win a World Cup in my lifetime. If that happens, I will probably die of happiness. I want the players on the team to be successful for both club and country. But club comes first for me, as it should for players and fans. Club play, in theory at least, dictates if you get selected for callup for players. As fans, we cheer for these players from August to May and we follow the club year round. We need these players to be at their best for us, period. I say if the US wins a WC, I will probably die of happiness. If Spurs win the league in my life, I will, in fact, die of happiness. If Spurs win the CL, I will, in fact die of happiness. I'd be on like cloud 12 if we win the league or cl in my life. I am a massive USMNT fan, as an American. But Tottenham Hotspur comes first.

I am bias towards Spurs when it comes to Kane and England. I couldn't give a flying fuck about England. I want him to be at his best for Spurs, and would rather him save the goals for us. But let's be honest, a player who comes through our academy, does very well for the first team, earn a place in England and seize the opportunity, it would a huge boost for our youth players and the club as a whole trying to attract youngsters.

Kane has been getting better and better every game for months now. He seems a down to earth lad, his work rate on the pitch has shown no signs of slowing down - even when he is knackered he still makes an effort.

The real test will be next season. Especially if he gets named in the England senior squad by the end of the season, then goes to the U21 World Cup.

I'm very aware of the next big thing tag and really hope people don't turn on him when he eventually has a dip in form.

That's the problem isn't it. Many fans have unrealistic expectations. They think if a player is truly great, they will perform every game and score cracking goals. I can't remember which games it was, but Mason was not up to his usual high standards, and people on the match thread were slating him saying he's s*** or he's overrated! The mind boggles.
Every footballer has dry spells, bar none. Let's remember, Kane is very young, this is his first season in the first team proper (not including EL and cups).
It's exciting just how far he can go. I wonder how many more gems we have. Horrifying to think he may have been wasted, never reached his potential under different management, been flogged off to a championship side.
I love the direction we're now going. It's the kind of set-up that Hoddle came through. COYS!!
