The news report on things I don't care about all the time, the bastards.

They should check my browing history before publishing any stories in the future...... although, on second thoughts..... maybe not. :cautious:

I really don't care? The standard is awful. Yet they keep reporting on it and give it a platform next to the mens.
They've got nothing else left to waste their money on. It's keeping people in the BBC in work and they have to spend the money on something so why not spend it on something no other network is interested in.

But it's the cricket and rugby as well!
Why on earth did we have female players commentating on the six nations?
Complete nonsense!

I don't think they are shoving it down our throats but I do wish the BBC website moved women's football to its own section in the list of sports. That way I can ignore it.

The OP has a point.

The BBC announced on the Daily Politics a couple of years ago that women's equality means at least 50% of women in positions of influence in the BBC. Clare Balding likes women's sports. Therefore the BBC shows more of it.

Women's football isn't great but we are required to accept that it has equal merit to men's.

When coverage of men's football completely outweighs that of women's football by at least 20:1 to claim it's being 'shoved down our throats' (and of course you do have the option to not watch it) is bordering on passive aggressive misogyny. Feeling a little threatened, OP?

Things I hate about women's football

Turning on the radio and hearing that Arsenal have just won a game convincingly - not realising that it's actually referring to Arsenal ladies.

Things I love about women's football

Turning on the radio and hearing that Arsenal have just won a game convincingly - finding out that it's actually referring to Arsenal ladies and realising that Arsenal are still shit after all. Happy days.

At first I thought you were talking a load of embarrassing shit, but I've just looked it up and it turns out that women's football takes up two of the most coveted slots on television: 9.30 on a Saturday morning and 25 past midnight on a Tuesday morning. And then, should you somehow manage to steer clear of this endless two-hours-out-of-168 stream of tartball, all you have to do is go to BBC1, press the red button and search for women's football at 8.30pm on a Tuesday evening and you're confronted with even MORE of the stuff, it's unavoidable!

Here's a thought for you mate - not every single programme, article and story on the BBC is aimed specifically at you.

Don't get this either. So not content with saying that women can't play to the same standard we are now saying they can't be pundits either? Nothing stopping them loving the sport like any other pundit and being as knowledgeable as others.

I listen to BBC 5 Live quite a lot and every sports bulletin throughout the day finishes with a report on some kind of ladies sport, even if it's as ridiculously irrelevant such as the Womens World Tiddlywinks Championship.

I'd like to think there's a correlation between viewership and the BBCs coverage I.e what sport and the gender of who's playing shouldnt actually matter.

The BBC is taxpayer run so should show a variety of sports rather than just concentrating on the most popular.

There really is no issue here.
