I think Poch, Levy and the Recruitment team will not alter their current market strategy no matter what competitions we are involved in. Get in decent players on the cheap, maintain steady league position (Last season was manna from the Gods) and then look to really threaten the status quo once we've completed the stadium. We should not expect much from the transfer market until then.
I think it's fair to say Poch will not be around that long should this be the plan.
Like Townsend, he can flatter to deceive. But if he is any better, the price will be much more than £15M. Remember Prichard, who hardly has any PL experience, went to a Championship team for £8M.I cant work out whether i think this is a good idea or not.
On one hand he has good pace, skill and athleticism.
On the otherhand, he has never remotely looked like living up to potential.
Genuinely dont know.

I am not impressed with selling Townsend and buying Zaha for 15 million. Townsend had his heart in the club, I would rather we developed.
We sold Pritchard , we are reportedly selling N'jie and Son after only one season and apparently Mason a Nd Chadil are up for sale as well, these are all guys with potential. I don't see the point in selling them and replacing them with players who aren't better.
I didn't see anything from Zaha that Townsend couldn't do. There is also little point in getting him if we are just going to sell him after one year because he hasn't had the greatest season. After seeing what Townsend had left in his locker i am mightly impressed what we screwed Newcastle for him.
And don't even get me started om the Lamela nutmeg.
Zahar is quicker, stronger, and has more skill.
