Don't think so. He wasn't a certain starter before he got injured
He started all the CL matches he was available for and had started the last 3 PL games before his injury.

But Son has has now shaken off the slight injury he had and Sissoko is up and running. Want to make another bet? He goes straight back into the team, then I'll like every post of yours for a month. He doesn't, you have to like everyone of mine.

Don't know if he'll go straight back into the team, but I don't think it will be long.

I'm just gonna throw this out there for debate: The Chinese are willing to pay obscene money for big name South American footballers. So how would people feel if we sold Lamela for, say, 50 million, bought Zaha for 25 and spent the rest on a CF, or even someone like Isco?

I'd say this would be great business. I stand to be corrected, but I've sensed a seachange in Poch's thinking this season. He wants pace and power in wide areas, hence the purchases of Sissoko, GKN and the interest in Zaha. Son also fits in that category. This leaves Lamela competing with Eriksen and Alli, and I think he'll struggle to displace them personally. And, like Oscar, he may find himself the odd man out in a change of tactical philosophy.

This sounds like a terrible idea.

Lamela is a much better footballer than Sissoko, gkn, even Son.

I think we will see him back in the team when fit, not immediately as he will be well and truly off the pace, but in time, certainly.

Sissoko, Zaha and gkn do not have the end product of goals and assists that Lamela provides consistently

For me there's a place in this squad for only 2 out of GKN, Zaha & Sissoko (even then I think we need better)

I'm sorry but that's patently not true. Son's played the equivalent of a quarter of a league season in terms of minutes and already equalled Lamela's total of goals last season. He's a much better finisher than Lamela. You'd have to be myopic not to see that. He has more assists, more uncredited actions that led to goals - he's won game winning penalties - Lamela's never won one.

With Sissoko and GKN it's too early to say. But it's starting to look like Sissoko is going to offer more.

For all these reasons. I think if we sign Zaha, Lamela will be on the way out. If not in January, then the Summer.

I like how you cherry pick certain things where Son slightly shades Lamela and completely ignore the many areas where Lamela is better. Who's myopic in their focus now?

Son might be a better finisher and is better running at the defence but that is just about it. Lamela is a harder worker, a better presser, a much superior passer with better technique and touch, has better vision and he's an all round smarter footballer with his decision making and positioning.

Fair enough. But I can't tell you the number of times people have said the same over the years.
Understand your point, but if we are discerning enough we will understand why I shared my views, without divulging anything that people don't already know. And if they don't then I cannot shed any light on the internet.

This again?

He does a different job to Son and Sissoko and is a better player than Zaha

honestly, if he stole your last rolo then tell your mum.

We will only bid for him on last day of window so plenty of time

Point is not about bidding. Its about his medical if deal goes through.

We won't let him do his medical in Libreville, capital of Gabon. Either he has to fly to London in middle of tournament or he has to agree & do his medical before leaving for AFCON. Both are unlikely to happen

It's perfectly possible to do his medical in Gabon. We'd just fly out our own doctor and book a private hospital or medical centre.

Trivia question for you: who is the only player at the club that Poch didn't sign that hasn't been given a new contract? I think many on here overrate how much Poch rates Lamela. If we sign Zaha, Lamela could be on the way out. Just giving you a heads up so you can better prepare for it.

By all accounts, they're in negotiations. I also read that Lamela's contract already had a one or two-year automatic extension.

Nice deflection away from responding to anything in my post.

Anyway, I would hope not as Lamela >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Zaha and it isn't even close. And I actually don't mind Zaha by the way, wasn't completely against signing him last window.

Crystal Palace to reject any offers from Tottenham for Wilfried Zaha

• Palace hope to agree new contract with winger
• Zaha set to join up with Ivory Coast next month

Crystal Palace will resist any renewed interest from Tottenham Hotspur in their Ivory Coast winger Wilfried Zaha next month and remain confident they will eventually agree a new contract with him to extend his stay at Selhurst Park.

Zaha, Palace’s most impressive player over a difficult season to date, will feature for Sam Allardyce’s side against Arsenal on Sunday and Swansea next Tuesday before joining his new Ivory Coast team-mates on a pre-Africa Cup of Nations training camp in Abu Dhabi. That tournament begins on 14 January meaning the 24-year-old could be absent for the entirety of the mid-season transfer window, potentially missing up to four Premier League games as well as his club’s initial involvement in the FA Cup.
His absence may not deter Spurs from offering a deal potentially worth £30m for a player they coveted in the summer, when Palace dismissed a derisory offer of £12m for their youth-team graduate. The Palace chairman Steve Parish made clear then that he would not countenance the player’s sale, and that stance has not shifted. Allardyce, while disappointed that he is to lose Zaha at a critical early stage of his tenure, also recognises the impact he can have over the remainder of season.

Instead, Palace will endeavour to reach an agreement with the forward’s representative over a longer-term deal at the club. Zaha’s current contract runs to 2020 but, at around £40,000-a-week, he is not among the bigger earners at Selhurst Park. The intention to extend on improved terms was first mooted at the end of last season, with talks held in September and an offer lodged which would see the winger’s wage raised to parity with that of the captain, Scott Dann, on around £65,000-a-week.

Yet the player’s entourage have seen Christian Benteke, Yohan Cabaye and Andros Townsend signed on higher terms over the last two summers and are arguing that, as one of Palace’s key performers, he should be earning a similar amount. Talks are likely to continue aimed at reaching a compromise, with Palace intent upon retaining the player.

The relationship between Parish and Zaha remains strong, with the chairman understood to have spoken at length with the winger regarding his frustration at a lack of recent opportunities with England. The player’s two caps were awarded by Roy Hodgson in friendlies back in 2012 and 2013 and, while he has represented the under-21s in the period since, he has now decided to pledge his future to Ivory Coast.

That decision was made in consultation with the Palace hierarchy and effectively with the club’s blessing, and confirmed despite Gareth Southgate’s late intervention to try and convince the player to remain eligible for England. It is understood the England manager did not offer any assurances over future selection in those discussions, with Zaha duly deciding to pursue his switch back to the country of his birth. The winger may still be uncapped by Ivory Coast but the coach, Michel Dussuyer, has already made clear his intention to use him as a replacement for the injured Gervinho in the tournament in Gabon.

Mate, you're trying to argue with someone who has a clear vendetta against Lamela and has been proven wrong at every turn. Just let him be. You're not going to get through to these people. They're just too desperate and blinded by hate.

I disagree with most of those points but it becomes a circular argument to enter a debate. Been through it all with Eriksen.

I.E. "Lamela's corners are better than Eriksen's"
Response, "but we score more from Eriksen's, it was something like 8-0 last season, in goals scored either directly or indirectly"
"Yes, but Lamela's corners are better!"

Eriksen and Son are better objectively, I.E. Backed up by stats, whereas Lamela is supposedly better by every subjective measure.

And I think Sissoko and Zaha, if we sign him, will prove to be superior objectively.

No actually I make reasoned and logical points whereas you just go around slagging every player in direct competition to Lamela, like you've just done to Son in the Son vs Sissoko thread.

Anyway, the thread is about Zaha. I believe it's clear Poch wants him, and the person that will make way should we sign him will be Lamela IMO.
