If he's a olone man team keeping them up, then why would they sell for anything other than ludicrous money.
maybe he is their only asset and they need money, just a thought
Seems odd granted that one year into a five year deal they would sell, i mean really with how important he is to them no amount of money should get them to sell

Nail on head Trix, which is why I really can't see it happening and why I wish Spurs fans who now think he's the best thing since sliced bread that weren't giving him a seconds thought 24 hours ago should be realistic about the links. He'd be a great addition for us, I just can't see it happening

This kinda leaves Spurs in a precarious situation in regards to filling this position on the team, if we cannot prise (which by the sounds of it based over the last page and a half) Zaha away from Palace, who are we going to turn to?

Not filled with any confidence currently, and I count myself as someone who is more glass half full than glass half empty when it comes to all things Spurs ...

Concerning.

How likely a cash plus player happen in reality? Why would Sisokko, Janssen or whoever want to go there. I would probably take my chances in Turkey or somewhere for a couple of seasons tbh.

They get to stay in London, that's such a huge pull nowadays.

Shaping up to be a hugely underwhelming window imo after what promised to be exciting with the side moving into the new stadium etc

I really can't see this happening, palace are extremely unlikely to budge on their valuation of which I doubt we will get close to.

I think zaha would be perfect for us, has the pace and power required for our system. Play a 4-3-3 with zaha and son on the wings Kane in the middle. Kane will get the service with lots of crosses into the box. However, we really need a cm in my opinion for this to really work

This hits the nail on the head for me... if Zaha is the player that is keeping them in the league (and stats back this up to show Palace's win ration comparatively with him in and out of the team), then his real value is likely to be far higher than we will be willing to pay. Only way I see it happening is if Zaha himself forces the move to the point by becoming a disruptive presence

Fuck me I'm underwhelmed by the term underwhelming. This windows buzzword.

Zaha can play wing, behind Kane or instead of Kane. With that versatility and if we rotate him around with the others in those areas they will all still get a good amount of games and playing time.

Quick...let's suggest which cheaper alternative can replace Martial and Zaha. It's what is going to happen.

Yep. Up until today I was fairly positive about this window. Now Im going to join the doom mongers. Nothing seems remotely close.

Like last year with Keita Balde, it's difficult to drum up interest in a quality new player quickly, once your main targets are lost. There is groundwork to be done. We had a fair bit of time after he refused us but didn't seem like we got close to finding another gettable prospect in that position.

I think it's Zaha or just sticking with what we have.

And really trying to make sure we bring in our CM target.

The reason why Poch is probably fussed about getting either a Zaha or Martial done over any other deal is that he recognises the importance of what they would bring to the attack, and he cannot find the solution elsewhere in the squad or youth team.

I think Central Midfield is clearly an issue area for us, but it really wouldn’t be beyond Poch to surprise us and make Winks a regular starter and turn him into a superstar. Or sell Llorente and start giving minutes to Troy Parrott in the Cups, as the back-up to Kane.

If the option is there in an inexperienced form, but one that’s full of potential, it’s obvious that his preferred option is to promote from within and develop it.

Like us though, he can probably see that the academy hasn’t produced a player like Zaha or Martial, and we haven’t got anything like that option in our squad either. So we need to spend the money to get it.

A couple of hypothetical scenarios...

If we just bought Zaha & Grealish, made Winks a starter and Foyth back-up to Sánchez & Jan I think it’d be risky but maybe it could work out really well.

On the other hand, if we buy an expensive CM & Grealish but still look one-paced in attack when plan A isn’t working, is that a worse scenario, even though we have a player maybe equal to Dembele?

Genuinely find it quite interesting to hear what people think. I’m torn, but - like Poch - I really do think Zaha would be worth the money for us.

if poch wants him then levy has to pay. even the price is high, as the money paid would also keep our manager happy which is as important as strengthening the squad

Pretty shocked that some people don't rate Zaha in all honesty. He's absolute quality and I can see why Poch would relish the opportunity to work with him.

He's Premier League proven, and with the right coaching I think he could easily be getting 15+ goals a season in a good side, if not more. Not many wide players have his physical stature (I hesitate to say it but can't think of anyone since Ronaldo).

It's not just his pace and power, but his dribbling ability. When teams park the bus against us at the moment we're predictable, which is why I think we're looking at Zaha who can trick his way past people and doesn't rely on an eye of the needle pass or space to run into.

All that said, there's no way we're paying £70m, and he's easily worth more than £70m to Palace as he practically singlehandedly kept them up last year, so I don't see it happening unless he goes on strike.

You guys are talking abut Palace 'letting' him go, if we're seriously interested do you honestly think that Wilf wouldn't have his head turned by the exciting future of this club?!
