If Levy sanctions it, it most certainly means we can afford it. So why do you care what the actual number is?

Totally agree it’s not like it’s coming out of our pocket and if levy is happy spending it we can afford it no doubt

He joined Watford straight after the Brazil league fixtures iirc, so you can understand a little drop in form
If he has played 2 seasons straight but I agree he is no 50m player
Watched him a few times early doors and he looked raw but lively and played with no fear so either teams worked him out or he believed his own hype mind you Everton paid 39 m for bolise so nothing surprises me

The issue there is none of those guys got any significant minutes. Plus Lucas won't be happy if he gets the same amount of minutes as he got since he got here. I know Lucas will get more playing time but where is all this playing time going to come for essentially 2 new players, Lucas and potentially Zaha.

We could lose all of those 4 you just mentioned and literally not notice it in our rotations.

The more time that passes and lack of any smoke regarding a CM signing it makes me think we'll be playing Eriksen a little deeper in a sort of 4-1-2-3 formation. That way if Zaha was the chosen signing we'd always have 5 of Kane, Son, Zaha, Dele, Eriksen, Lamela, Grealish and Lucas starting. Son would operate as back up striker therefore there'd be 3 attacking players on bench which is about right.

Richarlison only turned up until the clocks went back last season 50m seriously the worlds gone mad
Another bad decision by Everton to spend so much on Richardlison after breaking the bank to get Siggy. Both decent enough players but never ever worth what Everton paid even in today’s market .

Just look at the fucking talent...to me, he's like a hybrid of le Gin and Bale. Have honestly always thought at the right club he could go up a level.

The skill is absolutely hanging out of him.

Could Poch improve him? How high is his ceiling with ability like that? IMO Even at 25 you can still have an awful lot of potential as a player.

I don't think many people are saying he isn't skilled or isn't a good player. He could even be a really good player for Spurs, its just with our current set of players, matched with our budget and our needs, it doesn't seem like the smartest use of funds.

If we didn't have Lucas Moura this would be a slam dunk, no brainer. But we just got a guy for half the price who can do pretty much the same job.

Palace fan just text me saying that Zaha has rejected their contract offer and asked for a move to Spurs. Absolutely no idea where he got that from, but he's not prone to getting overexcited by transfer rumours... so, possibly, something in it?

With Everton pulling their own pants down dropping £50m on a Richarlison the pats played about 6 good games surely that knocks them out of the running when it come to shelling out the money required on Zaha.

That latest move by the Toffees might have just given our Daniel a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and some room to negotiate in the board room

I'd imagine Chelsea would be the only other team who could deal at the figures quoted that might be interested.

The point was I can't see Levy spending £70m on anyone, nevermind Zaha. I may be wrong obviously.

Further from the type of player he is, how useful will a player with feet THAT good be with VAR becoming a thing?

Zaha will make a lot of things happen in the penalty area and with far superior players around him, he'll be able to be more effective on the pitch IMO.

I'd imagine a fair amount of penalties and a lot more defenders with skid marks in their shorts at the thought of coming up against him 1 vs 1.

Teams will double up on him, creating space, we'll win more free kicks etc. If we sign him (and I obviously hope we do), I'd expect him to become a regular quickly enough (just an opinion).

That combination of skill, flair and talent separates fantastic and the fabled 'World Class' often enough IMO.

Also....PACE!

Maybe Poch knows something we don't. I believe with Onomah Winks and maybe Grealish we have good options added to Dier Dembele and Wanyama dove tailing Alli and Eriksen

I'd prefer Martial over him if I had a choice but if we end up getting him in I back him and trust Poch.

I can see us ending the summer with Zaha, Grealish, Gomes & possibly Pavard or De Ligt if Toby ends up going. If those happen it will have been a fantastic window with so many grey areas we've had to face regarding the new stadium, contracts running out, release clauses and buying market deadline etc.

I'd snap your hand off for an end to the window such a shame that

Zaha was maybe my 3rd choice in this position but definitely not at £70M.

I would be OK with him coming for around £50M.

Besides what others have said about his pace, trickery & versatility to play wide or up front, there are some other intangibles to take into account.
1. Initially, he will draw defenders towards him which would free up more of our players. Imagine Kane, Dele & Eriksen with more room.
2. The knock on effect is that eventually, he will be given more room as those defenders will migrate back to the others & consequently Zaha will have more 1 v 1 situations to exploit.
3. He's good but just how much better can he be with the likes of our players around him. That lift in potential is immeasurable.

If it comes to fruition, it will be interesting.

This is what makes me laugh about the world today! We have been talking about £70m yet the mirror claim £60m asking price
