9 goals and 5 assists in 29 league appearances last season. Pretty decent, no? He's a talented player IMO. Only issue is the price.
The only thing with these stats is that 5 of those goals came in the last 6 games. That's a plus, showing he performed when they needed him, but does also skew the rest of the season. They were a poor side and he was injured a bit at the start, but he also didn't score from December until April.

In general I think he's okay. If he was a 21yr old prospect people would be raving about him but at 25 I feel he should be further along than he is, especially for the price. If we're putting him in the same price range as Mahrez then Mahrez is the better/more effective player (he's also 2yrs older, but 2yrs ago he scored 17 and they won the league...). Plus he's essential to Palace and it would be placing them to a relegation battle if he was sold.

Good post. What is Mahrez worth? £70m? Personally I wouldn’t pay more than £50m for Zaha but it’s not my money.

Looks like somewhere between 60 and 75m, depending on where you look. I also don't think Zaha is worth what they'd ask, but you could say that for so many players :D

Question to the floor, would you rather Zaha Depay Malcom Kluvert, Martial (Bale seems out of our financial reach and not including Sessesgnon for now)
Zaha is amazing. Wasn't that impressed until I went to selhurst and saw him live. He has huge potential. But he is petulant and lacks discipline.

I would have him over martial personally.

Have you seen Martial live?

Minutes played is far more accurate than number of appearances. Of course Zaha's figures would look better if he played for United etc so not the whole story.

They’d probably look worse. Zaha’s the main man at Palace, Martial is just an option at Utd. Even then Martial’s stats are still better

I don’t think he is that good tbh. Certainly not better than Son, Dele, Eriksen, Moura or Lamela

I think you Zaha would be amazing for us and gives us the ability to unlock tight defences which we struggle to at the moment. We have no one as good as Zaha at beating players and creating panic in a defence

Do we really struggle to open up tight defences tho. What I seem to remember against these bus parkers is were not being clinical enough with our chances.

I wouldn't say no to Zaha however with Moura imo who is that sort of tricky player that can open up space I much rather Martial and please don't shoot me down Depay or Melcom both left footed players I think we need in our squad for balance .

.

Agreed and I prefer Martial. I just can’t see us getting him though.

And can't hack the Premier League.
Bit harsh remember de bryun and salah they struggled for a season moved abroad came back and the rest is history. I happen to think depay could be a great signing Under poch can play either flank and has pace and skill to be a success

Mahrez scores 1 in 3 / 1 in 4. Zaha scores 1 in 8.

Yes, Zaha had a 1 in 3 ratio last season, but look what happened last time we signed someone based on a strong end to the season (Sissoko).

EDIT:
I have no objections to us signing Zaha, but I think we could get better value for money elsewhere, and I'mn not sure who he'd replace. We already have Lamela, Son and Moura battling it out for a starting spot. Son and Moura offer similar pace and all of them can provide goals and assists.

We’ve also watched Zaha miss absolute sitters against us on more than one occasion.

The problem with stats is that they do not tell the whole story. If you watch Palace a lot, and I do (they are effectively my second team) you'd see that Zaha has been phenomenal all season. Literally everything good comes from him, even if he doesn't get the stat. He is the captain Tsubasa of that team.

To illustrate this:

Palace with Zaha

W 11 D 11 L 7

Points with Zaha: 44

Points per Game: 1.52

Predicted points: 57

Predicted position: 7th

Palace without Zaha

W 0 D 0 L 9

Points without Zaha: 0

Points per game: 0

Predicted points: 0

Predicted position: 20th

I fully believe there is not a single player as influential for their own team as Zaha is for Palace, and I include Salah in that.
