Tottenham and Everton plot Wilfried Zaha player-plus-cash transfer offers rather than meet Crystal Palace's £60million asking price

Moussa Sissoko and Eagles old boy Yannick Bolasie are names in the frame to be offered as makeweights

The Wilfried Zaha saga has taken a fresh twist with Tottenham and Everton now planning part-exchange bids for the £60million-rated star.

Long-term suitors Spurs are unwilling to meet Crystal Palace’s valuation of Zaha but willing to offer a player as a makeweight to try to bring their cash outlay down.

France midfielder Moussa Sissoko is one player they may look to include in any deal.

Meanwhile, Everton are ready to give Palace the chance to re-sign former favourite Yannick Bolasie and offer cash on top in an attempt to land Zaha.

The Blues value Bolasie at around £15m.

Germany’s Borussia Dortmund are also lining up a big-money bid for Zaha, while ambitious West Ham are understood to have baulked at their London rivals' valuation.

As MirrorFootball reported, the 25-year-old is keen to move on and has turned down Palace’s offer to make him their new £125,000-per-week highest earner, which led to contract talks being shelved.

Zaha has made no secret of his own ambitions, and he and his representatives are understood to have been left concerned by recent comments from boss Roy Hodgson.

The Ivory Coast international, who also won caps for England before committing to the country of his birth, was an inspirational figure last season in a successful fight against relegation.

But Hodgson has warned Palace are preparing for another battle against the drop in the new season, adding that they “haven’t really got a lot of money” to improve a squad which has already been weakened by Yohan Cabaye’s exit, Ruben Loftus-Cheek’s return to parent club Chelsea from loan and the likely departure on a free of Bakary Sako.

Palace are determined to hold onto talisman Zaha and, earlier in the summer, considered him worth more than any sum of money they may receive.

And they remain in a strong position as there are still four years left on the £100,000-per-week contract he signed last summer.
Is it just me or does this article appear to have been edited after publication to remove the Tottenham connection / Sissoko swap rumor? Which is odd. Even by British tabloid standards?

Yep, we’ve been completely edited out that Mirror report - maybe Levy’s pissed them off already ?

Just because Poch wants him it doesn't necessarily mean he's the perfect choice and we should be alright with it. As fans we are not stupid, we realise which players will make a significant improvement to our starting XI. Managers can make mistakes sometimes. However, with Zaha I do believe he will be a great addition.

Very, Very strange...
The hyperlink still says Tottenham and as of right now the tweet is still up with Spurs being name dropped. Either he published it without permission, was not true, or panicked - either way the Mirror just went full derp on this.

There's a times article written by Gary Jacob which goes one step further, saying Zaha rejected the deal to come to us, so my guess is that the news was embargoed until midnight and he just jumped the gun? I don't know

Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha pushing for Tottenham Hotspur move

Wilfried Zaha has rejected a new contract at Crystal Palace and hopes that Tottenham Hotspur will pursue their interest in him.

The 25-year-old and his representative have been concerned by Roy Hodgson, the Palace manager, publicly admitting that there is little money to spend on players and that the team’s aim this season is simply survival.

Zaha, who has also attracted interest from Everton, was offered a deal worth about £120,000 a week, which would make him the club’s joint-top earner with Christian Benteke. Tottenham have balked at Zaha’s reported £70 million valuation. However, Moussa Sissoko, who is among several unwanted players at Spurs, could be used as a makeweight.

At first read I thought this was just a rumor round up piece. I don't pay as much attention to The Times as I do others because of their subscription service...

Doesn't read like that tbh. Also this was tweeted by a Times Sport editor before the Mirror story was even published:

With this I think you might be right synth. Either jumped the gun on an embargo or hijacked a story and got told off.

Quick question - Zaha for £50m or Martial for £75m? Neither going to or would happen for the money just wanted to see your thoughts and who you'd rate as a better deal

60m quid for a sub is a lot of money. No chance he's better than Son.
Improves options and squad true but would be pretty underwhelming if he's the only forward we could think of to spend what is huge money on.

Zaha no matter the price. Martial and Son have similar skill sets and play styles, Zaha offers us something completely different

I don't think the story was embargoed. The Mirror choose to release stories at 22:30 and The Times release theirs at 00:00. Just the way they do it I think.

It’s a lot of money so I don’t know how I feel about this.

Does anyone else just feel that Zaha will be a good (possibly great) signing, especially as Poch wants him so bad but on the other hand would maybe rather chuck the money at Bailey or Pulisic?

It’s a tough one but I really don’t understand the people that don’t rate him, defenders are literally terrified of him and he’s the only reason Palace came back from the dead last season.

The reaction in the ITK thread is bordering on snobbishness IMO.

At least most of the people in here give reasons for not liking him.

Yeah probably. Just an odd series of events, especially with The Times focusing on Tottenham and Mirror focusing on Everton. Definitely seems a story someone wants out there to force something.

I'd prefer Bailey over him, but why would B04 sell him to us for, for arguments purposes here, 60m when they could get even more for him next season? Same goes for BVB + Pulisic. This seems like the peak value CPFC will get for Zaha since he's 25, refusing to sign a new deal, and has come off of a huge season.
