Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha pushing for Tottenham Hotspur move

Wilfried Zaha has rejected a new contract at Crystal Palace and hopes that Tottenham Hotspur will pursue their interest in him.

The 25-year-old and his representative have been concerned by Roy Hodgson, the Palace manager, publicly admitting that there is little money to spend on players and that the team’s aim this season is simply survival.

Zaha, who has also attracted interest from Everton, was offered a deal worth about £120,000 a week, which would make him the club’s joint-top earner with Christian Benteke. Tottenham have balked at Zaha’s reported £70 million valuation. However, Moussa Sissoko, who is among several unwanted players at Spurs, could be used as a makeweight.

Sounds like we’ve spoken to his agent then and he fancies it.

We can pass teams to death but how many times against teams that park the bus have we all been crying out for someone who can beat a man with the Ball at his feet?! Son can at times, Lucas hopefully can, add Zaha to the mix and that is a major problem solved imo

Martial is classier, Zaha is a danger. I think we'd score more goals and have more of a rhythm and fluidity with Martial in our team but Zaha has a bit more grit to get himself out of trouble, strength, industry and power to go along with his mesmerising feet. Both have good feet, even though Martial is more of a natural footballer with a better football brain and far more prolific at the moment. Will be interesting if we can pull it off, there's still plenty to come from him and his talents (for a not so ridiculous fee though, £50m tops!)

Zaha is the master of winning penalties and in a more attacking side that look to camp the opposotions box i can see that will only increase. An effective way of turning draws into wins and "free" goals for Harry ?

I’d actually prefer Zaha to Martial. But I’d prefer another central midfielder to both.

We do seem to be going for home grown players like him and Grealish and I wonder if there’s something in this apart from the CL rules.

Can't see us paying what Palace want. Tbh I can't see us even getting close.

Poch really rates him though and has been keen to add him to the squad for a long time.

Considering his contract I think this would take a major strop and transfer request for this to happen, and that pushes this to the final day/s of the window. I'd rather we look elsewhere, because this would be a huge gamble that we could get it over the line.

Seems like everyone is too expensive for us. I know we have the stadium to build but it’s starting to make us the poorest team in the league!

Palace won’t sell him in the final days of the window. We tried that 2 years ago and they said no because it was too late in the window. That’s not going to have changed in that time.

Just another hurdle that makes this one so hard. I just don't see us getting close to the £60+ mil they want. Would need to drop by at least £10mil IMO. All the transfer creativity in the world can't bridge the gap we are looking at, again IMO.

This is my worry - we're going to waste time, probably all the way until deadline day, haggling to get the price down and Palace simply won't budge.

They hold the cards here, he signed a new contract last summer.

Personally not convinced by the lad, but he has his moments. I guess if Poch wants him then there's more to him that I can see. Palace surely will ask for way too much though.

Heung Min Son is fucking criminally under rated on here.

Son is a brilliant player, he has become vital for us, but like many has quiet patches. He's also gonna be missing for the start of the season and possibly january too.

I just felt at times last season that when we started him we had no more attacking cards to play during the game. Now if you add another attacker that scares defences that you can use off the bench, in this case Zaha or Son whoever didn't start, that is a huge boost and win you games.

Personally I'd love to see Son on the left and Zaha on the right though, could cause carnage. Either with Eriksen/Dele in the pivot or a change to a 4-3-3.

I guess we already have Moura now who hopefully will step up but that then means we have two great options to hopefully get us over the line in tight games.

This is exactly the same argument I used for Martial.

Has to make you wonder about his ambitions and motivations when it comes to playing for a top Premier League club if he was prepared to sign such a long term contract with them only a year or so ago when they are battling it out at the bottom of the league year on year.

I like his raw talent, I'm not too keen on his mindset and what he potentially perceives & determines success to be given his obvious talents.

If this was to happen for the fees being, I'd want to and expect him to stand up and be one of the seniors of the team alongside Harry, Lloris & Jan. I'm not entirely convinced he's got that in his locker.

He'd have a serious chance of being a winner with us and being part of a potentially iconic team but he'd have to be one of the first ones in to training and one of the last ones out, he'd have to be one of those setting the example. He'd also have to learn how to be a real team player instead of a Roy of the Rovers type he's kind of been for Palace over the years.

I really like him but I can't see Palace going for it unless it's silly money, and I can't see Spurs paying anymore than £10m more than his actual worth, which is a whole lot less than what Palace value him at because he's their main man and without him they're a shell of a club that will be huge favourites for relegation.

It's a tough one because technically he could give us so many good qualities and grow into a proper player if he's heads right, but the values going to be way off on this one I can't see swallowing that kind of dough.

I don't want keepy uppies and flicks and tricks for the money being touted, I want genuine end product! Something he still isn't quite capable of delivering for whatever reasons

Does seem like Daniel would have to do something uncharacteristic to get this one done, much like Sissoko. Which is funny as it seems a lot on this forum talk about Zaha like he's another Sissoko anyway.

I think it'd need to move fast too, to give palace time to spend the money.

Doesn't sound too likely considering the reaction to these articles by Hercules and yourself however. Wonder if Breezer had just heard of the interest from the player side.

If Mahrez went for £60m, can see why Zaha would be £70m being home grown.

Sell-on value potential not great given his age (say if we came to sell him when he's 29/30) but look, I think he's a stand out talent these days. Totally understand why Poch wants him.

I just wonder whether Levy will have any luck getting this statement signing for £20m less than ticket price. The idea of getting a statement signing on the cheap is a self-defeating idea.
