I'm not against Zaha at all, but its hilarious that the homegrown issue has come to the front just after we couldn't get Martial.

We need homegrown players though.
lewis cook, loftus cheek. Fills homegrown. Maybe not top class yet but both are good options. Or get 1 top class one abroad. Too many punts on deadwood have done us no favours trying to get rid.

If it's just hg issue lets swap llorente for 50 year old Peter Crouch, pitch value will be about the same, but at least he's a cool guy

Grealish has a higher ceiling than Lewis Cook or in my opinion Loftus-Cheek (who we'd never get anyway due to the Chelsea thing)

Grealish is the perfect homegrown player for us to sign this summer based on weakness in squad and his potential to grow

Sell Gazzaniga

I wouldn't argue with that, but which English goalkeeper could we replace him with that would be an improvement on him that would be willing to be our 3rd choice keeper? And don't forget that Gazza was a player that Poch wanted having worked with him previously.

Isn't Cook quite similar to Winks? Loftus Cheek would be very difficult due to dealing with Chelsea. Anyway it looks like Grealish will be our young cm purchase for this summer.

I don't quite buy this reasoning that Zaha does well because Palace keep giving him the ball, everything goes through him, if that is the case then opposition clubs knew it and they made him the target of their defence which made it even harder for him than other players.
I am still of the opinion that he showed a level of loyalty last year and kept his end of the deal but maybe now feels that the club aren't keeping their's.
In my defence, I never said that. All I said was that Son has proven more in the premier league than him.

Metalhead

But that's a debate for another thread.....

As an attacking mid? Maybe no-one. I don't see we need one.
In terms of last season, where we looked quite pedestrian at times and devoid of ideas - would that have been in any way addressed by a player of Zaha 's capability or is that not the answer? Genuine question, not arguing with your opinion.

Not sure. But I don't see his capabilities as being much different to Lucas Moura who barely featured.

Who cares ? As 3rd choice GK he is going to play maybe 1 or 2 games a year. I’d take any GK from the Championship for that role if it freed up a space in the squad for non-HG so we don’t have to pay over the odds for HG outfield players like Zaha.

It's an excellent point. If we have got ourselves in a pickle over HG spaces,
Why on earth are we wasting a HG spot on an argentinian 3rd choice keeper.
