Can't see us be willing to pay more than 50 million for Zaha. Palace will surely want in excess of that.

This dynamic WF/CF is proving the most difficult piece of the jigsaw. Bale, Martial already pretty much ruled out, Plea as backup already moved on.
If Zaha is back in the mix, and Poch has truly been after him for so long, plus the HG issue, it's almost worth overpaying a little bit, just to get it chalked off.

If Poch wants him, and Martial is off the table, then it's money where the mouth is time for Levy.

I know people are sick of hearing about Liverpool, but they were willing to massively overpay for VVD and arguably Alisson as well, because they were the players the manager identified as key targets.

If Zaha is a key target for Poch then he deserves the same type of trust.

Depends if we can afford it. If we can and Poch wants the player (and we’re told he really does) then we should IMO.

It's easy to say. What if Kovacic then hands in a transfer request next week and we don't have the £50m up front RM want because we've gone in and paid what Palace want. I'd say central midfield is far more important than another attacking midfielder. I'll trust the club whatever they decide to do.

I agree with you. CM is more important.

I genuinely think if we sign Kovacic it’ll change the way we might have planned to set up next season. He’s probably better suited to a double pivot role in a 4231 or 3421 if we’re planning on starting him, Eriksen and Alli in the same games. Hypothetically, if we buy him, we might not need another WF

If we got Kovacic and Grealish I would be able to live without the WF for sure.

Son and Lamela, possibly Dele can do a job as emergency ST. Plus Dele, Eriksen, Son, Lamela, Moura, Grealish as (6) AM options.

I do think if we can add another top drawer attacker it's worth considering but a top drawer CM is the biggest boost to our squad possible.

Out of the two, if it came down to one or the other for financial reasons. I would choose Kovacic over Zaha any day. If there is any possibility of getting him we should be going guns blazing for him over anyone else.

Only reason why I believe DL might push this through... Poch has wanted Zaha for over 2 years. I’m thinking with the new stadium,
Poch new contract, maybe DL will push the boat out for Poch. Zaha’s agent also loves Poch so he’s in our favour...

I guess the question is how much he wants the alternatives also, say Martial if it's not completely dead.

I'm with you on being hopeful Levy will do something uncharacteristically big this summer to back Poch.

I think Zaha would be fantastic for us so I'd love to see it happen. Big concern is that it's too late for Palace to be able to spend the funds to as it'll take a good few players to replace him.

Now there's a bit of smoke I totally agree with that, before that we may as well been talking about bringing Modric back when talking about prioritising funds on a top CM.

Kane Zaha Eriksen Alli Son Lamela Moura is such a nice attacking pool of players to call upon, so much flexibility available for Poch.
