I believe him to be not just a good player but a smart player, so if he chooses Chelsea ahead of us it will make me start to question the latter slightly. If he signs, he'll be the first real direct runner with the ball that we've had since Bale. Good feet, quick, intelligent and willing to track back. He fits perfectly. If he can become a real goal threat, he'd be the full package.

Believe Shanks, believe!!

PS Haven't seen you around here for a while. Been lurking?
All good pal, post here and there, just can’t from work these days!

I want to believe, but we’ve been here before! Whilst we believe is to be a more attractive proposition, I still believe there’s more chance of Chelsea winning a trophy over us....

Between us and Chelsea... come on guys how many times have we been here before. Don’t do it to yourselves!

It worked out ok with Llorente last season. It's probably fifty fifty who Zaha chooses. Previously it probably would have been eighty twenty in Chelsea's favour.

Going to your place of employment and actually getting work done? During the transfer window? Nah, not sure what you're talking about...

I totally get what you mean, with Zaha choosing Chelsea over us.

But we're in a funny place right now; we're in a transition period, where we're breaking barriers and cementing our status with every passing season.

Also, if Zaha asked Poch about winning trophies, Poch could quite easily reply "It's up to you mate", because Zaha would be one of the final pieces in the puzzle. There wouldn't be too many teams in the PL, or even Europe, that would have an attack made up of the likes of Kane, Alli, Eriksen, Moura, Son, Lamela and of course Zaha. And possibly Grealish and another CM.

So anyway, who knows? We're certainly on a knife edge, as it could go either way.

There's a certain amount of fantasy and dreaming when it comes to football, so I say stay optimistic, until the converse is proven to be true (y)

True

Also, didn't we stall the Barkley move the first time around (although he subsequently chose Chelsea)

Come on now, Son is fairly direct...

Still not picked up in the media suggests the info isn’t right or at least not as far down the line as they believe.

Hrs linked to Chelsea, Everton and Dortmund. No mention of us. Strange if we are in for him.

We are mentioned. Just that we’ve cooled our interest when we realised how much he’d cost.

Which actually rings totally true to me, but obviously flies in the face of the ITK.

Steve Nicol has spoken, doesn't think Zaha will join us because of what happened with his Man United move - honestly it's so ridiculous you almost have to read.

My concern now is us getting any quality transfer across the line with the time left. I don't for a second believe United will let Martial join an English club, and I'm worried about Chelsea gazumping us for Zaha. I'm not sure where we turn after that.

I know we like to leave things late but with less than 2 weeks to go the only solid leads we have are Grealish and Martial, and there clubs are seemingly telling us to do one.

So based on the Manu U move, who WOULD he join?
