It's not even that stage of the window, people are like it all window. They moan because we haven't signed anyone. Then we get positive news about a player and they dismiss it. I do wonder why people even bother posting in this section of the forum. Surely this type of news is what it's all about. I love the excitement of whether we might sign a player.

Yeah things are spun any which way negative even with good news, target 1 player and it's all eggs in 1 basket, target 2 for the same position and it's too risky and we could end up with neither.

Yeah because deals dont happen without the media catching wind do they

Expensive deals where media-loving guys like Steve Parish are involved? I'd expect him to do something to gather more interest, if they'd accepted that Zaha was leaving.

With slow news all around this window, I imagine it'd be run as a big story. Wouldn't surprise me if he stayed at Palace.

Could argue he will want teams to think Palace are short of cash because if teams hear hes getting 60 mill for zaha and extra few mill will be demanded

Also, he may want the cash in quick to get targets in before the deadline and may take what he can get rather than drum up a bidding war that will last until deadline day

Has @Hercules retracted his "fee agreed and our offer to Zaha is better than Chelsea's" information, or have we just reached the stage of the window where we believe anything negative and ignore/dismiss anything positive?

As during squeaky bum time at the end of last season, there seem to be more fannies on here than there are on Pornhub.
I don't know if it's always a question of being negative. I look forward to new itk and really appreciate all of those with their ear to the ground providing info. My only caution with Zaha is that it's highly unusual for a player for whom a fee has been agreed and is at liberty to discuss terms with said clubs to then play in a friendly for the existing club. Now it may be that out of loyalty to Palace, he would be prepared to do everything he can for them until the last moment but for me, it would cause me to pause for thought. What we all have to remember with itk is that it's a case of 'don't shoot the messenger' as all these good people are doing is passing on info in good faith - it's not like they're working on the deals themselves.

Considering it sounds like they're willing to pay £20m for Ings, I wouldn't think that it'd make much difference

Parrish has begun a habit of stuffing Pool's coffers while essentially bidding against himself for players no other team wants. And now the oft-injured and mostly shit Danny Ings for 20-25M. They will have ~80M of Pools castoffs.

I think Barcelona are the only team in history to have bought a Liverpool striker and gotten away with it.... (genuinely)

Why would he when he's apparently already accepted bids? Surely he wants to prevent the media getting wind of the news so he can try and get someone in before selling his best player. Going to the media is all well and good when you're actively looking to sell a player. It seems he has reluctantly already agreed to that.

I'll remain sceptical for now. Even Zaha has been banging on, post today's match, about how much he's looking forward to next season with Palace. Nothing about this smells close.

I wouldn't blame palace, as they couldn't replace him for the money.

....is it just me thats not that keen on signing Zaha?...

No, I think there is an element of a split.

I have been impressed with him the last two seasons.

I am not sure where he fits in. If he becomes our Kane backup and also plays wide forward it makes sense.

If he only plays wide forward then I fail to see how he, Son and Moura will get ample playing time.

I actually really rate him, just not sure where he fits in. We already have 5 high quality players for 3 positions who will all want a lot of game time: Son, Alli, Eriksen, Lamela and Lucas, and that's assuming we don't play a 5-2-3 like we did quite often last season. None of them look like leaving anytime soon and with Eriksen practically undroppable, it leaves two positions open for four players + Zaha should we sign him.

To be honest against some teams to have Zaha & Moura on the wings would create such problems! Counter attacking with speed. Plus let's be honest when you play against Kane, Zaha, Eriksen/Alli, Moura you simply can't double team any particular one in that lineup without giving space away to someone you don't want to have it.

I'm split on Zaha, was never a big fan but maybe the slow window is making me desperate. Yes he is fast, yes he has great feet and tricks up his sleeve, but his conversion rate is pretty poor and I don't think his assists rack up either.
He would offer us something we lack, (although son and moura are similar) I do believe with better players and Poch guiding him he could become a really dangerous top level player.
I would be more excited if we were chasing a real decent cm to link up play between defence and attack because, for me, that is where we are lacking the most.
Anyway fingers crossed, I'm off to bed. COYS

What about Son? He just had a great season and has electric pace
