I'm not anti Levy at all, I just don't like the way Levy fails to deliver what Poch needs to take us up a level.

Martial too expensive apparently.
Zaha rejects us for elsewhere.
Grealish, Levy fails to do the deal when we could have, Villa get new owners and then the deal collapses.

But apparently none of it is Levy's fault? Come on man. I'm a big fan of what Levy has done for Spurs but it's quite clear Levy's having a shocker this summer and can rightfully be criticised for it. I'm quite happy to be proven wrong, how many days of the window left?

he can't force players to join us.

if I promised you a Cadbury Cream egg when I went to the only shop that's open on Easter Sunday and they are sold out, wht the fuck do you expect me to do, buy you a mars bar and hope

edit

Martial, nothing to do with finances, Man U won't sell to us, if you can't read all the ITK don't comment
Zaha's choice
Grealish yet again ITK said it was Villa holding up the deal

So Fredo if Zaha declines our better offer and CL football for Chelsea that's Levy's fault? Wonder where some people's brains are!

If he chooses Chelsea over us it'll be a bit annoying but I won't be very upset. We can definitely get better than Zaha for the money he will go for.

Zaha has now had 2 seasons where I think it’s fair to say he’s improved a lot. He’s a good age, can play anywhere across the 3 behind the striker, play as an out and out winger and at a push play the central striking role. Add to that he’s proven in the league.

I honestly think we’ll struggle to get a zaha alternative for the reported money palace are after

I'm honestly cool if we don't spend any money this window. Roll it over to the winter or, more likely, next summer. I know this is near blasphemy but we still have the second or third best squad in the country imo (so long as no one leaves) and hopefully players like Alderweireld, Lucas and Lamela will be 100% this season and really influence the team in a way they couldn't before the break.

The other side of this is I want players like Winks and Foyth and even the kids who are playing in the US at the moment to be in the first XI or on the bench and getting opportunities. This set up works for us and it's been working for the last four years.

It's always the time to 'back the boss' for some people, it's always this season that breaking the transfer record for a star is going to lift us to the mythical 'next level'. Guarantee the same people will be saying the same things next season and the season after that etc etc

If the opportunity is there to do it and club and coach are agreed on the target, then sure, do it But if those players aren't available keep your money in your pocket, trust your squad and fringe players to step up and wait until the right deal comes along. Don't go for a player you never identified or wanted just because he's being hawked around 48 hours before the deadline and you couldn't get the players you really wanted.

Zaha will cost about £60m. I think we could get a quick, tricky winger for a bit less than that abroad. Zaha isn't exactly prolific in his end product, and that's in a team where he is the focal point every single game. A friend of the family is a Palace season ticket holder, and I've seen them a few times over the last couple of seasons. He's got skill and pace but imo isn't particularly intelligent in his play.

I honestly think Moura is a better player, and he cost about £25m, and can also play across the front. He can't play up front on his own, but Zaha isn't really very good there either (though better than Benteke, which is why he was played there).

The thing is, we aren't short of quality forwards.

Fucking hell. Some of the tantrums on this forum lately have been downright cringe.

some believe because we made a £300m profit apparently we should be pilling it all in and making sure we get our targets without doing what has got us where we are now.

your know 1 of them as I'm sure he will doh or spam me pretty soon, think he has handed out about 10 rating in the last week to me @[email protected]

Posts like this really irk me tbh....yes we have a really good squad and they have got us top 4 finishes but they have won fuck all. All our rivals are strengthening around us and we are standing still. If we dont buck our ideas up we will be out of the top 4 in the next 2 seasons.

Every team has to add new players and improve each season as this league is so competitive.

Buying Zaha wouldn't increase our chances of winning a cup by much and as far as I'm concerned City are going to win the league comfortably again so he wouldn't change our chances there by anything. Obviously adding to your squad, moving on players who aren't working out for you is something you do all the time. I'm just saying if we end up sitting out this one window it's not necessarily a disaster. What I really don't want is another Sissoko but this time he costs £50m not £30m because Levy thinks he has to appease MP or the fans. Hopefully we get or more of our targets - but if we don't I can live with it.

I flat out refuse to believe that we’ve had a bid accepted and offered a package to the player and none of this not one iota has made it to the press!!!

You dont overly rate Zaha I get it but that doesnt mean he wouldnt help us to win something. If we 'sit this one out' and have another trophyless season and Poch leaves next Summer as alluded to by ITKs if he doesnt get what he wants THIS window...do you really think we wont lose some big players? Standing still is the biggest gamble of all here...I am not trying to dramatise things but I can only see it going one way.

Also if we fall out of the top 4 due to standing still how will you feel?

Yet we have the youngest squad. Each year they get older and more experienced, work better together etc. It isn't inconceivable that our squad naturally improves with each season.

imo, it's often more about the "entertainment" aspect of fresh faces for some folk. I don't have an interest in watching/following the youth stuff, but I get more excited about a new youth player coming through than I do for any Malcolm type player (e.g. some other team's youth product), but that's just me.

Obviously you need to buy where your academy can't supply.

This is like a copy and paste job but every time one of you come to defend things I say this "This team has been great but they havent won anything."

Top 4 is great but I want to win things now. Adding good players gives us a better chance of doing it.

We have a team full of winners - but the winning mentality has to come from the non-playing staff. Poch has to learn how to get that across, or else he won't win anything. It's the one weakness that even other teams see.
