i dont think its about finding ...more about paying inflated prices ... let's face it, regardless of what they say... the stadium has something to do with this

It's odd that in the history of 'over inflated' prices, we've never had a season where the bubble has burst and prices have come down

That's different, of course, to bad buys, but as long as it's the right player, people haven't lost money.

If Poch wants a young, talented player (Martial, Grealish, Zaha...whoever) then within reason, we should go for it. Haggling over a few million now could cost us the loyalty of the best manager we've had in a generation, and would be the biggest own goal we could possibly score.

And if one of the cost's of this transfer is that Sissoko or GKN or whoever has to make a choice of sitting in the reserves for 6 months or getting a crap loan/transfer, then tough sh*t.

We're not in a good place right now, and tough, affirmative decisions need to be made

I agree but I also think Levy needs to think about what's best for the team now and long term.

Toby is the best defender in the league but he's also available for £25m next summer and seems to have treated either Pochettino or people within the club with a serious amount of disrespect so I'd move him on.

If he didn't have a £25m release clause my value of him would be higher but with Martial being a rarity in today's achieveable market for us and being somewhat attainable I think we use Toby's class as leverage on this one. If we don't ŵe probably get, if we are lucky twice what Danny Ings is worth in today's market which really undervalued Toby tremendously. Sadly our hands are tied with his clause and supposed attitude, we have Vertonghen, Sanchez & Foyth to cover him so we can manage to cover in the centreback department for 9 months hopefully and he probably opens the door for a swap that Man U would never consider without him being involved.

I think Daniels got a little carrot with him that could and should be bigger but for the clause kicking in and I think using him + enough cash to make Man U see that it's a good deal (whilst not putting us in silly boy jeopardy) could get us a real star. Martial's value will only increase in today's market and with him being 22 he'd not only be a great first team addition but a shrewd investment when the top level class can go for £130m-£150m these days. I saw we risk it for Anthony purely due to losing Toby in 12 months time regardless and because Martial has a genuinely high ceiling
One small problem. Utd don't want to sell to us

Thanks for the info. Tough decision for Levy. Surely we won't sell Toby to Utd if they won't sell Martial to us? That would be a PR disaster for Levy as we move into our new stadium. Surely there is room for compromise on both sides?

He will go to Chelsea, if any one.

It still baffles me that in the world of football, we haven't been able to find any players that would improve our first 11.

Because we piss about on higher level players with Levy trying to do his now famous dealing that we can never get. Sights then lowered and then panic = Rasiak, Fraiser Campbell etc

Seem to recall some at Madrid many years ago when we were 'trying' to but Morientes say that buying a footballer wasn't like buying a washing machine.

At the end of the day it is Levy's money and if he wants to try to screw the best deal that's up to him but at times it can be shortsighted and hold the team back. This time it could result on the manager leaving sooner than we would like.

Tired of transfer windows. Now just expecting a winger starting N' to come on the radar in the next few days.

I hope not. That would seem to me to be a backward step. Perception counts for a lot and to acquiesce to united over selling Toby without a player that we want in return (assuming of course that he wants a Spurs move) takes us back to the level that we were a few years ago. This would especially feel like a kick in the teeth if the transfer window ends up the way that it is looking at the moment.

Frankly, Toby out with no Martial (or Zaha) and the current speculated business (Grealish in maybe, Dembele out) is an absolute shitshow. I don't think the club would get away with that at all.

They must really fear us! They are unwilling to let us have one of their fringe players that they don't rate in return for one of the best centre backs in the world - a position they are desperate for.

People bandy figures around like it'e monopoly money, and in the world of football in many ways it is. Hyper inflation shows no signs of bursting the bubble. However, in the real world, the one where we're building the stadium, 20m here and there goes a bloody long way and you don't chuck it away on a whim. I know it's been said that the stadium finances have no bearing on the football side of things but i don't think that's how a businessman like Levy operates. If he can find a way to service the debt quicker and easier, he'll weigh that up against player prices increasing by millions every time he picks up the phone.

Then we sell Toby abroad, there must be clubs interested in one of the worlds best cbs. I still clinge on to the hope of keeping him but if he is toxic, its better to take the financial hit selling him outside of England not strenghtening United. The fans will give Levy hell if he sells to United without getting Martial, a PR suicide.

Of course they would. They have the TV money, the season ticket money. Why should they give a damn? Fans really don't have the power we would like to think we do.
