It’s an old story. I could have sworn I read it a few days or more ago only no club was mentioned.

The same story has been mentioned on numerous sites which indicates its likely to be accurate. His failure at Man U also does not look good for his CV. I am glad Spurs arent willing to offer what palace or zaha want as he clearly doesnt have the right mental attributes to succeed at the very highest level.

Anyone that will consider going to Chelsea instead of spurs at the moment clearly doesnt have the right attitude considering we finished above them. He also chose the easy and bitter option to represent ivory coast instead of fighting for a position for england. I don't think he will improve spurs.

His stats look ok for palace because they are a poor side. He can afford to have bad games for palace but not for spurs.
We may have finished above them but they finished the season with a trophy by winning the FA Cup. Season before that, they won league. Since our last trophy in 2008, they've won the league 3 times, the FA Cup 4 times, the Champions League, Europa League and League Cup.

While we may be a more stable club, with an arguably better squad, Chelsea have a history of winning trophies and Spurs don't. So opting for them over us doesn't necessarily mean he has a poor attitude. He may just see them as being a better bet at winning trophies.

Well I am glad that Spurs are not offering the full price, but I have to say, since being at Palace I have seen his attitude change. I think he's ready for the step up now. I could be horribly wrong.

I guess so, if we can shift our wage structure up they could too (although they can't replicate our higher attendance income).

I'd have thought the wages would be closer to the £150k mark though.

As shown in the past though they will spend.... already spent 50m on the midfielder havent they....

We don't know that he has opted for Chelsea over us. For all we know (and this seems like the most plausible explanation to me) Chelsea are the only club that have had a bid accepted for him.

I've seen bullshit twitter on numerous sites too, does that make it accurate? That's how it works, one place posts a story and they all hijack it, wether it's the version with Chelsea in it or the one without, it doesn't mean much.

Thats another way of looking at it and probably quite accurate. I am putting my biased spurs hat on though lol

I really thought we could sign him on the assumption that we'd agreed a fee with Palace. I don't think we ever did and maybe Chelsea have which isn't a surprise. It just annoys me that we've spent so long chasing him if we're so far apart on the valuation. We should have known Palace would ask for top dollar on him and gone for alternatives instead. We need to scout out players who we can afford not established players who cost a fortune. Hopefully we have someone else lined up within our financial reach.

I am not saying its a fact, when established news sources run with the story its usually because they are satisfied with the source of the information. I know Metro and Bristol post have picked up the story and others may follow. I try to avoid twitter or social media.

You sound still hopeful, as am I, he ticks the boxes we need logistically aswell as footballing ability and I just go back to Breezers ITK and I feel Danny boy will bite the bullet.

There's a fair few who'd be complaining about wasting money etc if we do get him anyway. Can't win on here at the mo.

How people find the time to pop online and repeat the same negativity every day, almost minute by minute and thread by thread, whatever the situation, I'll never know.

Ah well, c'est la vie.

Who was the first to run it?

And you miss (or ignore) the point spectacularly.

Cheers for the info, I’ve doubted all along that they will play ball, they want it all their own way.

If I were in charge I’d be now trying to offer Toby around Europe for around £30/35mill and insist on a large sell on fee. I’d then go and make solid moves for Kovacic and Zaha and sort this bloody mess out.

Why sell Toby now for just that much when he will be worth 25 million next year. Surely he is worth more now.
Agree with overall sentiment though of getting the deals done!

What they usually do is rehash the original story. They all want a slice of the ad revenue the clicks bring in. Pretty naive to think they all run it when they believe it to be true.

He's going to Chelsea because we won't pay up - nothing to do with Zaha and his attitude

Pay the transfer fee? or pay him the high signing on fee? ITK alluded to us not meeting his financial needs.
I would have liked him at the club but not for a package that puts him there with our top earners. He needs to earn it like the rest of the team.

He may end up at Chelsea but a lot of the media are tied in with betting companies so publish stories to get the betting market up. Then a new story a couple of days later saying it’s not happening. Think people need to take everything with a pinch of salt. From the media and from itks see what next Friday looks like before we loss our minds.

It doesn’t sound like Zaha has been priced crazily. It has been reported that Chelsea have had a £30m bid turned down and will go back with £45m plus £15m in add ons

That’s roughly the same as Everton have spent of Richarlison and Siggy in recent seasons. And less than Mahrez.

Even with full add ons £60m doesn’t seem over the top for Zaha in the current market.

If we want to compete as a ‘big’ club this a deal we I think we should be making. If Poch wants him of course.

Wish we knew the ITK inside track. Frustrating window from our point of view.
