Will we have a busy January?

Despite the papers linking Berbatov with a move away I can't see this happening in January and i don't think a striker is what we need, stating the obvious i know.

Don't be surprised when our first purchase is a striker?

Still don't buy any of the Berbatov assurances. Huddlestone, Defoe, Rocha, Staltieri all on borrowed time. Chimbonda's a moth seeking bright lights. Not convinced Lennon is anything but self-serving. Jenas' new found 'rating' might be just enough for someone to offer silly money(a wish more than a likelihood).

So far we've been linked with half the Sevilla squad.....that might cover some of the shortfall.

There is absolutely no way that we will be looking at Downing now,Jol is gone and the days of signing average players are hopefully behind us.
Ramos will train and develop the good players that we already have.He will then try to sell the ones that are surplus to requirements and will replace them with players of a higher calibre.
I suggest that for us to progress in the second part of the season we need a left back,a right back,a central midfielder and a quality back up goalkeeper.
Very difficult to sign players in January but we will certainly be busy.

Jol was never incharge of signing players

Getting King and Rocha back will be the signings we need for CB. As long as one of them can stay fit. Goalkeeper can wait until the end of the season (hopefully). Central midfield is the key area to improve but i don't know who we could get in January who could make an immediate impact.

Anyone who thinks King returning will be our saving grace, is mistaken in my book.
We need a top quality replacement for him, as he cannot be relied upon due to his fitness.

I am hazarding a guess, that the majority of the activity will be to clear the 'deadweight' and to buy a couple of players in key positions should he be allowed.

Centre Back, Defensive Midfielder - Possibly playmaker as well.

I would like to see a left winger/midfielder, but I suspect we will get a fast paced full back on either left or right (hopefully Alves!!!).

key for me though are Centra Back and Centre Midfield.

I'm never ever ever gonna give up hope on Ledley coming back to stay. You say we need a top quality replacement, but you can't replace him. You can only try and fill some of the massive void left by his absence.

Ledley will be back though. Back to kick some ass. :)

I would say it would be a couple either way. it is too risky to try and change the playing personnel mid way through the season. Most of our players were simply lacking confidence when Juande arrived. The summer is when things are really going to change, and by the stage the players would have had a real opportunity to impress the gaffer

Spot on, and i will go on the record by saying that we wont be signing anyone from Seville...sick of reading lazy journos speculating that we're signing Alves for 50m, Kanoute for 100m (at least) and God knows who else.

He may not have been in charge of them but he certainly had a big say when highlighting the players he wanted.

Joey,we do indeed have 3 left backs,Bale is inexperienced and at this present time a far better player going forward from left midfield,Lee is not very good at going forward or defending and Ekotto is a pretty good passer and crosser of the ball,he too is'nt great defending, also spending a lot of time injured.

Don't get me wrong Flatters, I want King back and playing as he was, but I just don't feel confident that he will be back..

- Anytime soon
- As good as he was before
- And for as long as you think, due to other injuries or a re-occurance of his current ones

Lets look at the last few seasons, he has been great for us, but I cannot see him playing 40/50 games in a season, anytime soon.
So we need to get as good as a replacement for him, so when he is on the physio table, we have adequate enough cover, without relying on the young chaps.
