Someone on Arsenal Mania has noted that Aubameyang has sent Saliba's agent an Arsenal shirt signed by the entire squad and that the agent has posted this on Instagram.

"Auba sealing the deal nicely", notes the first response.

"Auba may be a ****ing Fedora Lord, but the man does come across as a suave mother" is the next reply.

And the response after that?

"A Europa league Puma shirt signed by the likes of Iwobi, Mustafi, Mkhi and Kola? Is Auba trying to kill this deal? Straight onto eBay with that rag."

:ROFLMAO:

Tottenham move to hijack Arsenal's William Saliba transfer after £27million bid rejected

Both Mauricio Pochettino and Unai Emery like the Saint Etienne defender, but only Spurs can offer Champions League football

Tottenham are in a battle with Arsenal for £30million-rated Saint Etienne defender William Saliba.

The Gunners have been in talks with the teenager, 18, after the centre-back was identified by boss Unai Emery.

Arsenal, open to selling Shkodran Mustafi at the right price, have made an opening offer of £27million for Saliba.

But the bid from the Emirates has been rejected and now Spurs are ready to offer the 6ft 4in star Champions League football.

Mauricio Pochettino has nurtured rising stars Juan Foyth and Davinson Sanchez and is ready to make Saliba the latest player to add depth to his defence.

Saliba has three years left on his contract until 2023.

He made 16 Ligue 1 appearances last season and is yet to earn a senior cap with France – but has represented his country at Under-16, Under-17, Under-18 and Under-19 level.

He was also part of the France side that took part at the Under-20 World Cup this summer.

Saliba seems a good RCB prospect... The journos reporting on this are all pretty reliable... Something about it still doesn't add up to me. Whether Toby leaves or not we really need an LCB backup for Jan long term. We already have Foyth and Sanchez in RCB depth and when Jan is out we typically play Toby or Davies in the LCB slot because the others really struggle there. Maybe it's just get the best CB we can then sort the rest out later? I don't know. Maybe someone who knows more about the player can fill me in.

Reckon Gooner journos are just putting our name out there, so they can say they beat us to him when they sign him. So transparent

Wow he's young, same age as our second year academy players like Pochettino's son, Paris Maghoma, Shashoua, and Jamie Bowden. 8 months younger than Ollie Skipp.

Funiest thing in that is the line
"Arsenal open to selling Shkodran Mustafi at the right price"

Never heard of him, but with their record of signing centrebacks do we really want one they are after?

They need a new CB for this upcoming season not the following one. So they would be willing to blow 70% of their transfer budget on a player that they couldn't put into the team until 2020/2021 season? Also, our bid is probably us trying to get start a bidding war for Saliba and eventually force Arsenal to blow their entire budget on one player haha

Let them have him. £26.5m is a huge chunk of their budget to spunk on an 18 year-old who might have to be loaned straight back. Even if they're able to keep him next season trying to integrate a teenager in to a CB role is no easy task in the Premier League. Look at Foyth, two seasons down and he still looks hit and miss at times.

Yeah, I didn't realize how odd of a purchase this would be for Woolwich. While he's definitely a big time prospect, this would be much more in our wheelhouse considering we have good CBs currently, but need a couple of young replacements going forward. They need someone immediately. This transfer makes much more sense for us on paper.

Hahah we should just buy Aarons, Sessengnon, and Saliba and then have basically a whole teenage backline in waiting for when Toby, Rose, Vertonghen, and Trippier leave.

Still, the young CBs I really want are Konate and Upamecano from Leipzig.

Is it a sign of how far we've come in the last decade that I don't care about beating Arsenal to a player? Most of the young signings they have made recently have been crap anyway. If he's truly been on our short list, lets get it done - shouldn't be hard to convince him we're a more attractive proposition than that lot. If he isn't - well, good luck.

Agree with this. Sanchez and Foyth, even Dier, are all naturally RCB. We have only Vertonghen as a left footed option. Previously Wimmer was the natural backup. I think of Toby goes, we need to be targeting someone capable of playing on the left side, allow us to rest JV, and start a bit of succession planning. Davies has filled in there, but perhaps lacks the physicality in my opinion. Saliba, and Andersen the other CB linked seem predominantly RCB.

I wonder if our interest isn't being circulated by St Etienne trying to get a bigger fee, like Aulas with us; only Levy is well aware of this ruse whilst Arsenal can't afford to take the risk!

Dan-Axel Zagadou would be my top pick. Arsenal are also being linked with him.

Seems like a lot of money to spend on a young, right-footed CB at the moment.

If I was Arsenal though, I'd totally spread rumours that Spurs were in for a player we've got just about wrapped up. A 'meh' signing could be made to look better if fans believe you beat your rival to him.

Probably just a click bait story. So many of these Tottenham v Arsenal transfers are completely made up.
