I've said this before, but they are now my most-hated club in the PL. I can't stand the pricks. They did not win the Champions League, Bayern lost it. As a result they basically took Hazard from us. And, they trumped our bid for Oscar, apparently (I don't know if it's true, but by God I'm believing it).

Me too. Hate them more than Arsenal. I hate those fuckers too but more in a pantomime villain kind of way. At least I respect them as a club, zero respect for Chelsea.

Personally don't see any movement with Willian this window. Shaktar are still in the Champs League and won't want to sell their star. Plus in the summer buying clubs will be in a stronger position due to his contract (at that point with 12 months left). Makes no sense for Levy to move now, unless a competitor does.

I expect us and Chelsea to fight for him, possibly another unwelcome bidder, with the fee being in the region of 18 ish.

If we land CL football, that possibly puts us in the driving seat, but unlike Hazard last season, I don't think it is the be all and end all.

Quotes from Shakhtar's Manager on Willian (long but worth the read):

- Is everyone fit? What about Tomas Hubschman and Marko Devic, who have had problems?
- Now we need match practice very much. As for Taison... it is not very nice to say that Willian hasn’t returned from holiday on time and thus he is exerting certain pressure on the club. I think it was unprofessional of him. President decided to do everything possible to sign a player of Willian’s level, who already has an experience of playing at a high level. Given that we know Taison’s qualities well and the game he shows, we decided to opt for him. It will not be easy for him: after all, Shakhtar’s game is specific, but he has very good qualities. I hope that he will understand everything quickly, with blending into the squad. We also look forward to Willian. I would like him to come back and behave as he did before - as a professional and decent man. I would like him to solve his problems in a civilized manner here in Donetsk, and not by phone. I have great respect for Willian – he was 18 when we brought him here, we worked with him. I would not like him to be put under pressure by the people who surround him. And to be honest, who advice him, perhaps, the wrong things. I do not want Matuzalem’s situation to happen again, as well as that of Elano and Ilsinho, who left and then changed his mind – made conclusions and came back. Even Brandao who wanted to leave very much, after two years was constantly phoning to ask how to get back. Out of respect for Willian - and he, I know, respects the whole team too - it would be right for him to come back and solve all his problems here. I repeat: do everything professionally, correctly and in a civilized manner - as we have done regarding him all this time. Reject advices of people who surround him. I think they don’t want to help him, but vice versa – they are doing not very good things. With or without him Shakhtar will move on.

Sounds like Willian is really trying to force a move.

if City baulked at his wage demands what do you think Levy would of done?

Hardly be a fight though will it? It'll be us getting blown out the water

I made the mistake of YouTubing this guy for the nipper earlier, and now I really really want him.

Even more so after today's lack of edge. Although there's still no point in signing the likes of Wiilian unless we also sign the proper centre-forward we've not had since Gordon fucking Durie*.

*I know that ain't true. It just feels like it sometimes.

It was largely suggested that Hazard would have joined us had we qualified for the CL last season (and not just as Chelsea's expense). Willian, who is friends with AVB, has even more reason to want a move to us.

There's no point conceding defeat before we've attempted to sign him. I also think we've got a very good chance of getting him when the door is open.

Exactly.

If Chelsea actually do want Willian they'll just blow us out the water on wages and tranfer fee, Oscar ring any bells

I wasn't sure how serious you were about this at first, but blimey!

Would you suggest we call Chelsea to see if they are interested in any player we bother?

I'm not a fan of thinking you're defeated before you've even tried. That's real negative stuff right there.

I think the 30 million up front that's been hinted at will be more of an issue than Chelsea.

I'm not saying we shouldn't try and sign him, we should be going all out for him IMHO. We don't know if Chelsea actually do want him, but if they do I think an extra £20000 a week will out weigh any friendship he may have with AVB plus the fact that they are CL regulars and we're not. It wasn't meant to be negative just realistic

I completely agree that we should be going all out for him as well, but if you believe you're destined to lose, you probably will.

I think loads of factors will come into it, and not just financial. I'd imagine Sandro has some good things to say about us, with Oscar possibly being not as enthusiastic about his time at Chelsea.

The management situation at Chelsea will be big for him as well, and that just looks rotten to the core. Not to mention the competition for places being far greater for Willians position at Chelsea almost guaranteeing that he won't start all games - whereas with us he probably will.

Weighing it up, I think we're in the stronger position, but getting CL football for next season will help immensely.

Maybe it is more in the balance than I thought though...

I do believe if someone with much greater finances and a bigger standing in the modern game comes in for him we will lose but like I said we should be going all out for him, he's the creative player that we have a chance of that I want the most

I just don't see us breaking our transfer record for this type of player TBH. Hope I'm wrong as its what we need.

Imo the only time we will spend the sort of money needed for this guy will be when Bale leaves

One thing I would say is that I have a sneaking suspicion that the sale of Bale is already agreed. Just seems like noone in the press is trying to force the move, kinda like everyone already knows he is off and is just keep quiet. Maybe a bit of a conspiracy but normally the press would be all over trying to force a move for bale.
