So will the same fans who've been slagging off Modric and Berba for "forcing" a move away from Spurs welcome Willian who seem to be doing the same at Shakhtar right now ...???

Not approving of his methods and not welcoming a quality player are two very different things.

Yep, but won't be surprised when he does it to us in 3 years! That's the way it goes these days.

The hotshot has failed to return to Ukraine from Brazil for the start of Donetsk’s winter training camp.
It is thought Willian, who is also being tracked by Tottenham, wants to force a move out of Ukraine. And he has been slated by boss Mircea Lucescu for his dramatic no-show.
Lucescu fumed: “I think it was unprofessional of him.
“The president decided to do everything possible to sign a player of Willian’s level, who already has experience of playing at a high standard. We look forward to having Willian again and I would like him to come back and behave as he did before – as a professional and decent man.
“I would like him to solve his problems in a civilised manner here in Donetsk, and not by phone.
“I have great respect for Willian and I would not like him to be put under pressure by the people who surround him, and who perhaps advise him the wrong things.
“He should reject the advice of those who surround him – they are not doing very good things.
“With or without Willian, Shakhtar will move on.”

If that article is true, and Shaktar went from 35m+ to 20m being acceptable, I think 20m is around the range that we could manage as a "big buy."

Has anyone seen a lot Willian in games?

All I have to go on are online clips like this one -

He seems really skilful but how is he with crosses? What's his work rate like and does he track back and help out he defence at all?

I've watched a few replays of his games. Basically, Willian comes off as a lazy player in games. He will hold up the ball and distribute it to teammates. Then, when he gets an opening, he kills defenders with his pace. He is a very smart player, and one that would definitely fit our playing style. He brings his play from deep, but Shaktar never really require him to do much defending. I would expect him to be similar to Bale defensively.

i can't agree, i've watched all of their cl matches this season and it was his work rate that surprised me the most. the entire shakhtar team are well drilled in working hard off the ball and willian definitely did his fair share of defending.

This.

He's always tracking back. The first match against Njordalaland he must've had 3-4 clearances in the final third. At one point, he gave up possession, ran down the opponent who took the ball, and pick-pocketed and turned right back around and led the counter. The guy's an awesome player, but also works his ass off.

I dont mean to say he is actually lazy, more so controlled. The guy changes gears ridiculously fast. I didnt mean for it to sound negative at all, haha.

I think Willian is more like Bale replacement...... his best position is AML. If we get him, is it Bale that is gonna run riot in the middle?

I said the same thing a few weeks back. I think Bale will definitely go to Real Madrid and Willian is seen as the ideal replacement.

I'm not so sure, With Ronaldo staying for at least one more season where is Bale going to play? Left back maybe, and without the Ronaldo money I dont really see them forking over 50 Million Pounds for someone that do really need. But we will see
