Except it’s doubtful either of them will start if everyone is fit.

We need creativity in the middle of the park imo if we are to improve this season.

My point exactly if one is injured rested or out of form we have necessary qualities to maintain midfield tenacity.

If wanyama injury is that bad / same as last one with his release clause being less than 20m surely we should be looking into this again had a decent world cup.....

We shouldn't buy players to cover an injury, especially someone that takes up another non-homegrown slot. We're over the limit as it is.

over the limit until we get rid of the players that have come back on loan.... if his injury is bad as last time he could easily be out until the time of the new submission of squad

It's madness to buy a player because one of ours is injured, that's asking for trouble.

Amos looks decent. He could be an option for us. Plus we still have Dier, all up in the air at the moment

Even if its a long term injury and also the other player in that position has already expressed his concerns with keeping his fitness up for the season to poch demands?

Depends on the length of the injury.

If Wanyama needs knee surgery and is out for 8 months - it would be a very poor decision not to find a suitable replacement.

I suspect the club has a better idea of Wanyama's status - and that will guide their decision (as well as the performances of Skipp and Amos).

Saw this thread suddenly bumped and nearly had a heart attack thinking something new had happened. Never mind. Crisis averted.

Exactly this, we are talking about missing CM`s already so to add another one to the list is not going to help a single bit ok we have the two young kids coming through but lets face it how would they compare against the first choice CM`s in the teams we have played? basically a youth team game other than the odd first teamer anyway

It doesn't make any sense. We're in the position at the moment of not being able to buy because we have too many players we need to shift. You don't then buy another non-homegrown player to cover an injury. What happens when Wanyama is fit again? You now have more players to sell. It's all hypothetical anyway, we have no idea about the state of Wanyama yet.

so take it that wanyama injury is as bad as last season and like the post above needs an op and is out for 8 months what do we do? who is going to replace him with? Dembele only played half the games last year and winks still not anywhere fully fit,

I dunno that's up to the club but I still don't think it makes sense to buy a player to cover an 8 month injury. Get a replacement in for Dembele sure. I'm not sure that player is Barrios though.

If we really get stuck at DM I'd rather give Onomah or Foyth a chance than spend 20m(?) on Barrios. Then we have Amos or Skipp who are coming on nicely. Can't afford to spend that sort of money as cover, especially on a non HG player.
