Does he look that much better than Wanyama? I've only watched him now in the wc and on youtube so my knowledge of him is obviously very limited but i don't think he will improve us that much. If we sell Wanyama or planning on moving Dier further back it will make more sense i guess.

Been v good albeit against an utterly woeful Poland side. Still wouldn't make any sense unless we're moving on Wanyama, which in itself doesn't make any sense to me.

Unless getting Barrios allows us to put Dier back into defence when/if Toby is sold. Flexibility.

That makes sense to me. Personally I think Dier's best role is in the central position of a back three. Sanchez/Dier/Vertonghen is a decent back three.....

Barrios played a blinder today. If this is him every game, I hope we buy him. He has been brilliant for the entire game. Should have run atleast 2 or 3km more than others

Not sure if he has the technique to really thrive in the PL. Plenty of tenacity though.

He's a good destroyer but his technique is lacking. Not great on the ball at all.

Except that he showed the opposite. Protected the ball excellently with clever faints and quick feet, and found clever passes forward at times. Very solid technique imo and his composure under pressure was particularly impressive

If the plan is to permanently move Dier to CB then it makes more sense. Wanyama would start with Barrios backup.
If this were to happen though it would definitely mean Eriksen deeper otherwise Son won't start, let alone another attacking signing.

Starting to agree with previous posts, and wonder if a Defensive Midfielder like Barrios is an alternative to signing a Centre Back to replace Toby, with Dier moving back to defence permanently instead?
Can see us moving to more of a 433, having Eriksen and Alli/new signing sitting either side of Wanyama/Dier/Barrios, then Son and Lamela/Moura/Martial?? either side of Kane.

Barrios was great tonight but let's not forget Poland were terrible. I'd still be happy if we signed him though.
