Watching YouTube clips on this guy and to be honest the number of time he dives in to challenges is crazy many of them could be classed as two footed by refs in the Prem. Luckily for him he seems to time the tackles well. The Prem, however, is a completely different standard and can see him getting quite a few red cards if he carries on doing that, which would be a bit of a worry.
A lot of people said this about Aurier. He seemed to be timing them well on the YT videos so it's a worry for Barrios too. If we didn't have Dier and Wanyama already i'd probably be for this but we need technical quality to get to that next level.

Can only see this happening if we sell Wanyama. But assuming Poch does rate him highly, I could see some logic in it.

Wanyama had the kind of injury that many players never fully recover from (and obviously our coaches and physios will know all about his prospects of ever becoming the same player again), but he's someone that we would likely be able to sell for a massive profit considering what we paid for him. If it's true that Barrios has a release clause of $16m (£12m), we could conceivably sell Wanyama, bring in Barrios as his replacement, and use the difference to bolster our transfer kitty for other players we want.

Personally I would much, much rather we go in for Diawara if we're absolutely intent on selling and replacing Wanyama. I'm not saying I want this transfer to happen, just that I could see the club's thinking if it does.

Every article is quoting one report. I remember last summer when we supposedly signed Giovanni Simeone based off a South American report, I'm hopeful this is all just BS.

The big difference there is that was only one report. Our interest of this guy is documented across English and South American media. I'm still not sure i believe this certain report though.

I've never seen Barrios play for 90 minutes and I suspect very few other SCers, apart from @Ossie85 - whose opinion would be most informative - have.

But we know he's a "tenacious DM". And if you're making a You Tube highlights reel of that type of player, you're likely to include a few sliding tackles.

I had similar concerns about Wanyama before we signed him, as he'd got a couple of stupid red cards the season before he joined. But he was much more disciplined for us, and something Sandro-esque must have happened for us to be considering replacing a proven PL destroyer.

And yes, Aurier needs to cut out his impetuous slides.

But I'm going to reserve judgement on whether Barrios is the "Colombian Kante" or a more reckless type until I've seen him play - hopefully starting with this World Cup.

Anyone else starting to think that Poch saying "we need to be brave" really meant lets be brave by buying players that no one has ever heard of and hope it works out?

I have no idea about this lad but if Poch wants him im all for it.

But if we fail to sign a high quality CM this summer I won't be happy.

P.S. I was watching Phenmons, a doc on Skysports yesterday where they featured a number of German based youngsters including Goretzka and Max Meyer. They were talking to Goretzka about his decision to go to Munich and they had good offers from abroad too. Im in no doubt we were in the running. Shame.
