I was on court 18 yesterday for the last 3 hours of the game. It was absolutely ridiculous. Went there first thing cos I thought it would be over pretty quick, then saw a couple of games on Court 2, a bit on Centre then most of Federer on 1 and it was still going on. Was listening to the updates throughout the day on Radio Wimbledon and decided to leave the last set of Federer as I just had to go and see them slog it out.
The score board broke at 47 all, by that time the players were just serving with their eyes closed knowing they were gonna win the game. They must have been on a drip all night recovering cos it looked like they only had about 3 bananas each in 7 hours.
Codswallop, he should be able to play continuously, even if he has to serve under-arm, like, was it Michael Chang, had to one year, due to fatigue. We used to play all in the summer as 10, 11 and 12 year old kids some rain, hail or sun, or we'd be cycling all day, covering up to 70 or 80 miles sometimes, or we'd be playing football all day, or a combination of all of those things and a few more besides. It wasn't just me, it was almost every kid that I knew.
H'anyway...
Great to see that Tsvetana Pironkova managed to knock out the older Williams brother. I swear that monstrosities moans and groans get louder and thus more ridiculous with each passing year. I long for the day that the grunters and groaners fuck off. Seles has a lot to answer for.
Back onto Pironkova, aside from being absolutely gorgeous, was anybody else who watched the match reminded of Steffi Graf, the way she covered the ground and got herself into postion?
Fed struggling again, either way this surely plays well for Murray. If Fed loses, that is huge and even if he gets through, he will be more tired and more beatable.
