Federer is on the slide imo, Nadal may never be the same again with all his injuries, so that leaves Murray and Djokovic. Murray knows he can beat him now when the pressure is really on so I expect more to follow.

I bet Mrs A&C that Murray would choke at 1-0. It's going to cost me an expensive meal but i'm happy to pay.

Anyway, I got some Burger King vouchers.
FFS man, slow down. She'll be expecting that kind of extravagance routinely if you're not careful.

BTW, there's a pretty good mixed-doubles final on.

It's getting near the end now ...

I'm happy to eat humble pie on this one. I said a few years ago that he would never win a major with Nadal, Federer and Djokovic about but he's proved me very very wrong.

He has been absolutely brilliant and the fact that he has two major wins in an era with that quality of player around is unbelievable really.

Well done Andy.
Yes, was looking like another Brit devoid of gumption for ages there. Every time he's faced disappointment through the yrs he's merely used it as motivation to work even harder. Changed things up etc. Very well done to him.

I think Lendl is the biggest change. He's help Andy get his mind and mentality right. He always had the physical tools.

The final game of the final set is on the the Red Button 2 if any of you want to watch ahead of the 10:25 show tonight.

Personally, I can't get enough of this. I just don't want the tennis to end.

I love the bloke - All the negative press he's received over the years has contributed to what happened today. The anti- England comment's were done in jest with Tim Henman if anyone who saw the programme on Andy last week, I feel it was the MEDIA ( always them!) who painted a bad picture of the young Andy Murray back then, and some English people were offended... ( bet they did anti- Scottish jibes regarding football too ) and I bet the same reporters are now / should writing about him in a positive way .

I think the best move Andy made was appointing Ivan Lendl ( who I didn't actually like as a player ) and his mentoring and experience in game have been invaluable to Andy and it was nice of him to thank him publicly in his moment of glory.

Certainly made me proud to be British today, and I hope we see him win more Grand Slams in the future...I am pretty sure he will do....:)

Theres a few masters events before that aswell, the Rogers cup is in a few weeks time. Then after the US open the Asian stretch. Andy traditionally does well at these times of year. :)

Hah I got a little nervous even though I knew the result.

Can't beat this and the last weekend for sport for the whole year in my view. I'm a footy fan first and foremost, but I love Wimbledon and you have the Tour De France with all it's beautiful backdrops of scenery. I even watched the last British Lions game and I normally hate Rugby as a spectacle.

Superb stuff, I feel sorry for people who don't like sport. I know so many people who didn't watch the Olympics last year either. It's all so inspiring.

I've just seen those last few games again (for the 3rd time today) and it continually impresses me just how epic and tense those last few games were. Novak was definitely getting back into his rhythm yet Andy kept his mental focus. Simple incredible.

Really? Are these people British? If so, I bet they feel really stupid now.
Just a few people I know that aren't into sport in any way. One woman on my facebook was moaning about the Olympics taking over everything and was sick of it. Also a few young people I know that work in a cafe i go in to get my coffee. Some people just don't like sport and don't get it I guess.

Hardly. Sport is fine as entertainment but for some it's nothing but pure distraction. I can completely understand that and actually sympathise with it for the most part. The Olympics touched me last summer because it made me realise why I watch sport. It's live drama and other humans struggling with adversity and overcoming or in equal measure failing. It's an easy thing to identify with.

I love sport myself and spend far too much time an effort following Spurs in particular but a life with zero interest in, for the most part, physical activity wrapped into codified competitions, doesn't strike me a particularly weird one. So many things out there to experience.

I know just as many people who couldn't give a flying wotsit about the theatre or dance for example. I'd hardly call them weirdos either.

I've actually stopped watching about 3/4s the amount of sport as I did before. I catch highlights of an event here or there that interests me. I haven't watched a minute of the TdF actually but am very pleased to hear Froome has the YJ. Instead I actually take part in some sport every week and spend the rest of the time with myriad other things in life, especially my family.
