The task Harry Winks faces is simple: provide England’s answer to Andres Iniesta, Xavi and Luka Modric.

No pressure, then. Such comparisons are often burdening for young players making their way in international football but Winks stood on the brink of earning his second cap against Spain here in Seville tonight willing to embrace the responsibility.

Sod England, he needs to be our new Modric.

England can make do with Henderson for all I care.
After a major tournament, there should be a gap of one year before international games restart and friendlies should become extinct.

Didn't see the game but from all accounts he did very well yesterday.

Nice idea in theory, but then you're cramming the qualifiers for those tournaments into one year...
They like to get the qualifiers done by the Oct/Nov of the previous season so that they can sort the logistics for the tournament itself with plenty of time to spare.
