If you like to follow what is going on with the current Tottenham loans, then there is good news from Italy regarding Harry Winks. The midfielder was sent to the Serie A side for the season in order to get some game time under his belt, as Antonio Conte had few plans for him. However, what looked like a great opportunity quickly turned into a nightmare for the Tottenham man, who has yet to feature for Sampdoria.

That’s due to an ankle injury, for which he needed surgery, but it appears his rehabilitation is going well, to the point where he travelled to Turkey with the Italian club to train with his teammates during their tour of friendlies.

This begs the question why didn't he have the operation years ago.

Happy days. Greatly improves our chances of getting a decent fee for him, either from Sampdoria or elsewhere. Hope he can stay fit and rebuild his career.

There's something not right with our medical department.

Conte knows it too.

I wish him well, he deserves better than what he has had to put up with recently injury wise.

I've always had the same feeling about our ability to return players from injury. Other top teams seem to get their players back more rapidly. Of course some one will have statistics that prove me wrong- hope so.

We are not so bad....
There's a graph on the pdf around page 53/4? Quite interesting. Includes analysis of injuries to young players too and wider european context.
