While Dele Alli rocketed to the top of the game in a season, Harry Winks has taken a more gradual but no less impressive ascent towards the summit at Tottenham.

Well, ok, but "trusted few" suggests splits & favourites in the camp, but I don't think that's the case with Poch, except in a strict footballing sense.

I think the camp are the few. Poch it ruthless for cutting the players who he doesn't deem up to it and they don't stick around too long.

He definitely looked very composed when he came on in Russia. I have not seen much of him but so many people are pushing for him to start more often so he must have something.

Any comparison to Modric is probably a bit optimistic but if he gets anywhere near that level then we have a star on our hands.

Yes, there's no sign that any players in the senior squad are being shut out. Quite the contrary, Pochettino pulls youth players into that group when he wants to accelerate their development.

Players whom he doesn't trust get excluded from the senior squad and then get sold.

Winks looked right at home in Moscow. He mad himself available for every ball and completed every pass intelligently when we were trying to run the clock down.

I would love to see him with more games under his belt. Think he can be a nice player.

Well there seems to be plenty: KWP CCV Winks Onomah Walkes Edwards Whiteman Harrison in Pochettino's 'camp' along with those in the first team who seem to queuing up to extend their contracts... it seems a real in-depth squad which can only lead to the glory glory days back at WHL!

Shut out 'in' the senior squad and 'excluded from' the senior squad is a rather subtle distinction. Surely all managers marginalise some players sometimes, however you describe it?

By "shut out", I meant "members of the senior squad who are being ostracised and made to feel unwanted". By "excluded", I meant "not members of the senior squad at all".

My point was that he prefers not to have unhappy players hanging around with his main group and he's decisive/ruthless enough to know early when there's going to be no way back for someone. So he removes them from training.

Having "marginalised" players in the main group is damaging to team spirit. I think this is the most important factor for Pochettino: not the feelings of the individual player, but the effect on the group.
