There are only 4, and the 4th is the EFL Trophy. So I'd imagine the League Cup is in most people's top 3!

Yeah, I was joking. I probably prefer it to the FA Cup these days though. Probably because it's the only time I've been to see us in a final and lift a trophy.

Woolwich have a nice sort of break, they have two Europa League ties but nothing else between now and the 1st of March when they play City.

So the possibility of a break is rearing it’s head again.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. I’m pretty sure the bug clubs would just book friendlies in America and The Far East so it wouldn’t actually be a break. The idea in principle is good though, but then I think it would need to be coupled with dropping two clubs from the Prem and having an 18 Team League.

Agree with you. They still play matches during this break so I don't see the point of changing the league setup. We've manage to go on for many seasons now without a winter break.

Confirmed now, but will be staggered

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/44414487

Premier League clubs will have a winter break in February from the 2019-20 season.

The break will be staggered across two weeks, with five matches on the first weekend and five the following weekend.

The FA Cup fifth round will be moved to midweek to accommodate the break, with replays being scrapped at that stage.

The Football Association described it as "a significant moment for English football" that "will greatly benefit club and country".

"It's no secret that we have a very congested fixture calendar and over recent years we have been working with the whole game to find a solution," said FA chief executive Martin Glenn.

"As we head into summer international tournaments in the future we are sure that this mid-season break will prove to be a valuable addition for our players."

All three divisions of the English Football League (EFL) will remain unchanged, with a full programme of fixtures taking place on each of the weekends where there is a break.

So it’s basically one weekend off. Seems fairly harmless.

Except that the main issue the players/coaches have is the fixture congestion. Having the weekend off just means that game is moved to another date, which if anything just increases fixture congestion. And by the time you factor in the inevitable friendlies in Dubai etc. they'll all end up playing, it'll mean they've played more games over the course of the season with an even more congested fixture list. This doesn't help anyone at all, except for teams wanting to make more money.

Clubs have been banned from playing during that period so that shouldn't be an issue.

I agree that a one week break is pretty rubbish, but I assume that is just an introductory thing so that fans don't object too much. It'll probably be at least two weeks the following season.
