Yesterday proved once again how much we need a CM that can do a bit of everything. We should be throwing everything at Ajax for De Jong.

I agree about the CM, but really wondering if the train to play at the moment is working, because 1, we are so weak in depth but 2 if they continue playing at the pace they are at the moment, it's going to be a long season. the pace was to lethargic against Liverpool yesterday, which made our passing accuracy and sloppiness even more annoying.

Anyway to add to my wish for a very warm January, my next wish is can we have a "penalty please", so far I think we could of had 5 or 6, yet none.

I guess that means reports that we are doing that aren't true.

Can anyone fill me in on this? I saw it mentioned a bunch but I wasn't around back then.

It was ITK for a Brazilian centre forward - Leandro Damiao - from Brazilian team internacional who we were linked with for several millions years every transfer window.

Apparently we tried but they weren't very impressed with what our "everything" amounted to, it seems like they have enough used crisp packets in Amsterdam already :sneaky:

I think we need to nick the scouts Monaco or Dortmund use as they seem to identify good young players. For example Monaco bought Pellegri in Jan '18, a 16 year old Italian forward who already has 1st team experience and scored in serie A. They also bought Henrichs from Leverkusen in the summer for only £18m who can cover both full back positions, probably a better option than Aurier.

Looking at their transfer activity, they generally buy a few youngsters 18 or under who will become home grown in a few years, then some young highly rated young 20 somethings such as Keita, Tielemans etc.

We used to be quite good at identifying youngsters domestically such as Dawson, Defoe, Walker, Rose, Lennon, Naughton, Carrick etc. The last one we had was Dele which was almost 3 years ago.

We really need to clear out some of the crap and pray we make top 4 again so we can push on as a club. Hopefully we can get rid of some in Jan and start the process.

Since this is the "wishlist" thread... If I become an oil tycoon over night. I'd buy Malinkovic-Savic, De Ligt, Alex Telles, Hysaj, Sessegnon and idk someone like Callum Wilson or something for backup forward. You all are welcome in the future.

From the very little I have heard, it was more a case that they just weren't interested in selling, Not that what we were offering was derisory.

This is what I figured. De Jong and De Ligt just weren't going to move this summer, next summer I'm sure they're gone.

No point in having the scouts if your not prepared to buy them once identified unless they match a very strict budget, and the way prices are rising it is pointless when the club refuses to budge.

The difference between us and Monaco is that they’ve been selling their established players which creates room for these starlets. If we bought all these 18-year-olds, where are they going to play? At Monaco they go in to fill the holes left by Mbappe, Fabinho, Lemar...etc.
