The difference between us and Monaco is that they’ve been selling their established players which creates room for these starlets. If we bought all these 18-year-olds, where are they going to play? At Monaco they go in to fill the holes left by Mbappe, Fabinho, Lemar...etc.

Yep young promising players get good because they play matches and obtain first team experience, we cannot promise that.

Yes someone very cheap

To be totally honest shelf, either Pochettinos targets where either to far north in the £££’s and he didn’t want choices b-z or the worry of the stadium and failed naming rights hit us at just the wrong time for Levy.

I don’t think we will buy in January unless another deal like Moura shows up, and at the moment (luckily it’s September), I think the clubs biggest worry is sorting out quite a lot of contracts.

I think you have nailed it correct as certainly I do not expect anyone in during January and maybe 1/2 might not fancy signing on seeing as we can't afford anyone not a good seller that one.
I have a sneaky suspicion that the club may take a backward step over the next couple of years with players wanting to leave and can't blame them but we will see.

Think there are only 3 positions some would say 4 that really need looking at.

Not sure Rose will ever be the same as the Walker partnership, the unsure is will KWP make the jump?

And we really need a DCM and a CM.

Don’t think a Kane standby is that easy to make, no player wants Kane as his challenge, and I honestly believe when he was out with his last injury we coped pretty well. The only worry being burnout to Son, but taking that chance might be the only option

Not sure it’s a case of not affording, but a case of not being willing to pay way over the odds, and then the ridiculous fees the agents want. de Ligts price escalated and I bet a lot of that was for Raiola

Maybe your right but times are a changing and if you don't move with it you get left behind like as evidenced already this year.

I agree they've lost some stars and need to replace, but they haven't only bought 18 year olds. It's been a mixture of established players and the some under 18's. I don't think the under 18's have been bought to replace the established players, but to develop and hopefully grow like we did with Dele, Walker etc.

JJ seemed to indicate recently that we were in for De Jong but they just wouldn’t sell

Since it’s a wishlist and all, let January come around and lay £50m on the table for Loftus Cheek. I would say that is absolutely a fair price for him, considering he has 30 mins of football so far this year, behind Jorginho, Kante, Fiberglass and Barkley In the order. Can Chelsea really sit and say they wouldn’t sell for that?

For RLC it’s potentially attractive as his England Chums are here and we have proven to be a good pathway for kids into the England setup, plus our dire need for a midfielder would mean he can come in and be “the man” for the next 5 years easy!

I don’t buy this whole strengthening rivals shit. Arsenal sold Chelsea Giroud, Chelsea sold Arsenal Cech, Arse and Utd did the Mikh/Sanchez swap. We sold Walker to City, if the price is right it’s right.

We could offer £50m for Loftus Cheek, no shot Palace could, you know Chelsea would want Zaha in any deal anyway!

What has he ever shown to be worth that amount of money?

I already know what excuses this team will have for the transfer failure.

Levy: It is very difficult to buy players in winter. So you people can stop dreaming. We will see in summer.

Summer 2019
Levy: We will wait to get the best bargain out there. When the rich teams finish their business, then it will be our turn. We will sign new players for Poch.

September 1, 2019
Levy: We have tried but we didn't have enough time to complete the deals. Don't blame me. I have tried. But teams asked for ridiculous money.

Realistically i'd be very happy if we got someone like Doucoure. He's a very decent footballer, a bit of a beast and seems to have a very good attitude. Plus he's already scored for us once this season :shifty:.

Really wish we could have pulled this guy off. So impressive to watch him make a quick, decisive pass and just continue to bomb forward with the attack. Looks to be exactly what we are missing.

When selling Eriksen in July 2019
Levy: The offer was too good to turn down considering the length of his contract.

Currently seems the only way we’re gonna generate cash for new signings
