Sell/release this winter: GKN, Janssen, Sissoko, Aurier
Release/out of contract/sell this summer: Dembele, Vorm, Fernando, Edwards, Sterling
Winter business: pre-contract with Rabiot (free in the summer), tap up Declan Rice for the summer, new contracts for messers Toby, Verts, Dele, Christian, Dier, Danny
Summer: Bring in Rice, Rabiot and throw all the money we have made from sales to try and get Sancho or Lookman

At some point probably by start of next season it’s gonna be absolutely essential we secure a Vvd quality CB. With Toby possibly off and jan aging, we can’t have sanchez as our No 1 CB. I like sanchez and he will improve but he needs a reliable quality partner. I think next summer will the break up of Pochettino 1st era team and a brand new team need building. We need 5 or 6 by start of 19/20.

That's why 3/4 should of come in this season rather than 5/6 or even 7 if people leave sort of puts us back to where we were playing catch up again.
That decision not to invest may well prove to be a costly one if it means a few years out of the CL but in levy and poch we place our trust.

Agreed. Despite the spin after the transfer window, I can't see that either Levy or Poch would have been happy with the way that things transpired.

Agreed they should not be happy but then surely it was down to both of them to bring people in to improve the squad and take it on, I certainly do not believe the spin that no one could be found that simply does not wash.

As we won't spend big money we need our scouts to get this summer absolutely spot on. If they can unearth another Lucas somewhere in January then we also have to do that.

But selling players in january is a must or else we won't be buying anyone next summer either because we will have the same problems as this year. Now that is a scary thought.

Eh? Where have I said we haven’t spent before.

Like everyone here I have no idea what happened in our supposed contact regarding De Ligt.

All I said is given his potential I don’t think getting him was simply about paying money.

Why people are struggling with that basic concept is beyond me.

Think we've got wires crossed here.

I was merely saying I never thought he'd be got cheap and that I'm sure he was a target if we recouped enough money through sales (and poss the sale of Toby).

This is the thing that confuses me a bit. Surely the scouting team, with presumably a well developed world wide network could have rustled up one or two players?

Why would we have to sell before we can buy? Nowhere in the rulebook does it state that you have to do that. These idiotic constraints only exist in Levy's head - as does the notion that you have to hold out for top dollar for total flops...

Yeah, totally agree. If we're not selling them and not playing them, we're still obligated to pay their wages and their value, such as it is, is slowly reducing every window.

Yup the not buying this window. Means we are playing catch up the next 2 or 3 windows. We really need to get 2 in January to make next summer less of a panic. But I’m not optimistic.

Yeah I don’t understand it. We’ve been fed this line so many times that people take it as gospel. Other teams buy players then sell the ones they don’t want.

We used to be TH player trading FC, now we don’t even dare to do that!

Brazilian friend of mine is a die hard Flamengo fan and keeps raving to me about this kid. Keeps shoving skills video in my face when ever I see him. Looks the nuts but haven't seen a whole match of his. Apparently he has exceptional vision. No doubt destined for Barca, Madrid, Juve, City anywhere other then us.

Just want to reiterate this. He would be perfect. Could be the marquee January signing - could do a Sandro-esque deal so he can play in the Copa?

Not only do we hold out for top dollar for flops but then also try the reverse of offering 5 euros and a snickers bar when we are buying as evidenced by the grealish farce.
