As of Friday 26th October 2018 we are joint 5th level on points with third spot and 2pts off 1 who we play next.

CL has been unfortunate I will say we’ve been extremely unlucky and a touch naive.

As for contact issues don’t you feel the clubs been proactive with contracts ? Last time I checked Kane Lamela Sanchez Winks Alli Son and some others had signed improvements.
but toby, verts and eriksen have not. what i want to emphasize is that we acknowledge the good stuff, but the concern about other matters is also justified.

These things happen at clubs across the world look at Ramsay at Arsenal for an example or Sterling at City...WHY emphasis on this gamesmanship

Because that's 1 player for each team, if the worst comes to the worst this summer could mean losing 2 top class CBs and a quality 10 that makes the team tick along with Dembele, Vorm going plus the likes of Llorente, Janssen, N'koudou and Sissoko expected to be sold. That means needing 1 more CB (maybe 2) and a 10 on top of a CM and attacking player who can play as a striker, maybe 2 if poch wants to play 4-3-3 regularly with 2 quick attacking players either side of the striker. If the club couldn't buy/Levy didn't want to pay the going rate in 2018 do you really think he'd pay the money required for players from clubs that know you need to buy with another year of transfer fee inflation, or that the club can feasibly replace let alone afford to buy 4 or 5 players in one window of the required quality to go for a title push?

If a good CM and attacking player were bought in the summer I would share your laid back attitude because of fewer squad holes. That could've possibly meant Eriksen and Vertonghen signing a new contract too (like we were hoping in the summer, the time to push on again for a title attempt and renewed belief in the system from all core players), leaving only Toby going in the summer which is not good but it is manageable. However they weren't and now the club *have* to buy from a position of weakness which other clubs will look to capitalise on and after this summer my faith in Levy is not exactly there, if he can't do it from a position of strength (like the summer just gone) why would I believe he could do it next year? Not even contemplating the possibility that getting CL football will be even more difficult this year, without that money and player draw well good luck I guess.

Don’t be offended but you need to chill. Villa wanted 40 million for Grealish when Maddison was going for 20-25, we can’t afford to be careless with money ( I wish I’d take my own advise lol) , seriously though I think we did the right thing to wait for our main targets instead of filling the squad with second rate. I am confident we will make the right signings so much money’s been invested failure isn’t an option.

According to itk we could have got grealish for around £25m but dithered new owners came in then the price went up

The spine of our team will change over the next few windows I suspect.

Lloris is on the decline. Vertonghen isn’t getting any younger and and Toby has well documented contract issues. In midfield, Dembele and Wanyama are seemingly coming to the end of their time with us. And Eriksen will be entering the final year of his current contract this summer.

And that’s not mentioning our issues at fullback, as well as players like GKN, Sissoko, Janssen, Llorente, Vorm etc.

There’s a pretty comprehensive revamp of the squad coming up, but I hope by promoting some youngsters (Foyth, KWP, Skipp, Edwards etc.), we won’t need to bring in too many.

My apologies if my reply came off as perhaps unsettled rather than an analysis of the situation. Didn't we have info that before the takeover Villa would've accepted low £20something million for Grealish including addons but Levy didn't deal because he wanted to squeeze as much as he could? That fee sounds like something quoted after the new owners.

And how long can you wait for main targets? What if the "main targets" can only be bought for fees Levy won't pay? They won't just say "oh well yes you can have an extra £20m off because you've waited so patiently" will they?

It’s a testament to how poor our window was to some that we have people still complaining about not buying Grealish. Jack fucking Grealish! There’s plenty of Villa fans saying he needs dropping at the moment...
I don’t care if we could have got him for £25 early in the window. He wouldn’t be playing if we had bought him, no matter the price.

I reckon we know exactly who we want and by waiting we actually could be in a better position. I also sincerely believe Pochettino has a few players from the development teams in mind ready to promote at the right time Winks being one Onohma Foyth Edwards Walker Peters Carter Vic. Skipp

Let’s just see what happens

I didn't want Grealish from the start, so happy Levy missed out on that one. But that saga is the perfect example of how bad we were in the last transfer window

Even if we should be skint, there's still value in the squad for us to make both sales and signings.
We have the world's most exciting U21 right back not getting games, while two full internationals compete for the same spot.
Gives us the opportunity to sell one and buy in a more needed position.
Christian Eriksen haven't signed a new contract, it's just a matter of time before we sell and re-invest.
Toby will fetch a fee and need replacing.

People who think we'll spend like our rivals is in for disappointment, but there's no need to stop the discussions.
We have a challenge ahead of us and will have to perform in the transfer market going forward.
