With a vulnerable contract and Fulham going down hard, I can see them being more willing to make a deal on Sessegnon this winter to bring in more experience in the relegation fight. Maybe an opportunity to get him down to our spending level, and I asume other clubs might be put off his modest Premier League performances.

From what I've seen of Sessegnon this season I'd 100x rather we go for Telles or Grimaldo. I know that doesn't help our HG situation but that's another debate.

I think people are being incredibly harsh on Sessegnon and are forgetting how young he actually is. People should remember that Bale, in his early spurs career, was relatively poor for us.

Sessegnon is young, new to the league and is still adapting to a new position, when he would've played his entire career to date at LB. He's also playing in a very poor Fulham team.

I'd be delighted if we signed him and i'm absolutely sure that he'd thrive in the atmosphere that we've created for young players such as himself.

I'm not sure they would be willing to sell so easily certainly in the January window as we have have seen previously clubs with PL money do not need to sell so easily these day's.

While I do agree with you, the asking price of 50m or more would be ludicrous for us to pay for Sessegnon atm in his current state.

Agree - as it stands he's not bringing £50m's worth of talent to his match performances - i'm sure Fulham know that though.

There's still a premium here for home grown potential but i can't see the cash price being that high now. Maybe it would build up to that in installments, add-ons or similar but for now, he's lost a little of his wow factor.

But agreeing with SMC's point, he's very young and has a long way to go - in the right set-up he's capable of stepping up. This season was always likely to be tough though.

Bale wasn't relatively poor for us at the start, imo.

Also, what atmosphere have we created for young players? If he was with us now, he'd still be playing u23 games or on loan at some shithouse club.

Sessegnon should be judged as a full back. He just doesn’t have the skill set of say a sancho to play AM/winger. As a full back I think he will be very good. He has all the raw ingredients pace power etc and although not in sancho league in final third he will still be better than most full backs in an attacking sense. In today’s market I’d go to £20m tops as a full back. Considering his age there’s very little down side. Trust me if he manages to notch a couple of goals in next few weeks everyone will be raving about him again.

Not really sure that’s fair to say. I guess your judging this on KWP. Foyth has been given the chance, so clearly pochettino just doesn’t think KWP is good enough. Who else are we realistically holding back ? There’s nobody in U23/18 seriously knocking on the door apart from Skipp.

Foyth has been given the chance? Because Jan has been wiped out with injury, Dier’s injured too and Sanchez and Toby can’t play every single game - especially when we played 5 games in 48 hours.

I don’t blame the club, because our XI is so much better than it used to be - but it does seem increasingly difficult for players to make the jump from youth to full team now. Sessegnon wouldn’t get a game for us, unless we saw him as a left back.

The only way we'd use Sess would be as a LB/LWB, no way we'd purchase him to be a winger/forward, totally pointless given the circumstances of the current squad.

Still gutted we couldn’t get Sancho as seemed there for the taking aside from Man City being meanies... :(

I’m thinking Dier is fit. He was on the bench and has joined up with England. Pochettino could easily have played him instead of foyth. Granted foyth has only got his chance due to injury and work load. But that’s virtually always how young players get a chance.

do you think they'd do a deal this winter if they could keep him until the end of the season if we threw in a couple of players that could keep them in the prem?
don't see why Sessegnon would sign another deal and if they wait until the summer he is in the final year and they could be down
I'd be shocked personally.

Linked with Maxi Gomez of Celta Vigo today. Would still like Callum Wilson as first choice to take burden off Kane but Gomez definitely second choice.

I quite like someone like Callum Wilson will be training at Hotspur way this week and staying in the new player lodge. Must surely influence his thinking.

1st England call up, playing well, starting every week for team on the up, yeah bet when he plays on the indoor AstroTurf pitch I bet he can't wait to play at Spurs and play 2nd fiddle to Harry Kane.
