I think this is the key to it all, Chelsea, Arsenal, City, Pool, all have clear backup strikers with established starters but they likely pay them more than we would. Hopefully with the new stadiums and pay upgrades this will be fixed soon.
Personally I think the answer is to find a young striker that complements Kane and can play with him not just instead of him. Essentially allowing us to play a 4132 from the start. I think what City have with Jesus would be ideal.

so who would you sell out of Lamela, Son, Moura or Alli to keep another player happy, and going to that formation we wouldn't need a CM B2B player.

I don't think he meant that would be our preferred formation just that you could start a game with 2 strikers to give the player more game time.

Sell Nkoudou & Llorente. Simples.

@Ghost Hardware was saying buy an up and coming player that can play with Kane. those 2 don't play so they wouldn't be the 1's losing out. 1 of the 4 I selected would, and eventually will get fed up with rotation.

teams that win the league actually do the least amount of rotating bar this seasons Man C, but we don't have the funds to have 2-3 top players on 200k a week and have them sitting on the bench

Getting tougher and tougher to pick our first xi. Although I’m loving sissoko currently I need to see it for rest of season to be totally convinced. But still playing 4 at back and Dier holding its 5 from 9 when all fit. I guess dembele is the obvious upgrade but we are pretty bloody strong. Honestly don’t know my current best 5 in combination.

Dembele
Winks
Sissoko
Eriksen
Dele
Lamela
Moura
Son
Kane
I know I will get lots of neg rep but I think both Moura and Lamela flatter to deceive

Tough to criticise Lamela. His numbers tell one positive story, his work rate tells the other - he’s not perfect but he’s been very valuable this year.

As for Moura - he offers us something very different. My criticism would be that his decision making, and as a consequence his creativity/ability to lay on chances, needs to improve.

But he’s getting better and again, is a bloody valuable squad member - especially for that price

For me there is no coincidence that our most fluid performance coincided with the return to the team of the Son - Dele - Eriksen triumvirate.

I like Lamela’s attitude, who doesn’t, but far too often he seems to run into trouble. Moura seems to have unbelievable talent but doesn’t seem able to translate that consistently to hurting the opposition, I’m not talking just goals and assists I’m talking about creating fear in the opposition of the type that other similar players in the league do - Sane, Mane, Mahrez even Zaha.

Quite funny how this thread has flipped based on one fluid performance, suddenly we have a squad that is nigh on impossible to improve. I don’t buy that, I think the issues we had a few weeks ago are still there.

Not many of us were complaining about needing new players in the front 5. Cm was the worry. Tiredness was the worry, injuries were the worry.

Son also going to asia games and possibly joining the military was a worry.

I totally agree with this. I just felt ‘flatter to decieve’ Was a little harsh

Our issues have always been about CM - it needs to be sorted

Midfield needs improving, not he forward positions.

I think a lot of this decision will rely on what the club reckon about Janssen as and when he gets over his injury. Janssen is on half the money and has longer left on his contract so in an ideal world we can shift Llorente to free up the non-HG spot for Janssen and free up some wage bill as well.

Clearly Janssen has been pretty shit, but for the amount of play we get out of Llorente I can't see much of a drop in productivity going with Janssen as a temporary backup striker. But it will depend on his fitness and if Poch thinks he has any chance of training some performance into him.

It will also depend on the status of Vorm and GKN. I wouldn't mind seeing three of those four leave (FL, VJ, MV, GKN) and we move for the likes of Berge and see if we could snag a Josh King or Andre Gray type to play as a backup striker. Lots of moving parts in that whole equation though.

We need home grown players but at the same time we need actual quality.
Andre Gray or Josh king certainly aren't good enough for a club aspiring to win major honours and would be just stocking fillers.

If we move on Dembele or Wanyama then I can see us going for Lewis cook who is a terrific young player.

If we can ship Dembele out in January, Olivier Ntcham could be a clever signing. Bit raw still but is athletic, has a goal in him and has very good technique. Bit of a Dele-lite. I know it’s SPL but the standard is no worse than Erevedsie and everyone is excited about De Jong. Also, he’d count as HG as he was in Man Coty’s youth system.

I personally dont think he's good enough.

I don’t disagree midfield is a higher priority and full backs are also a requirement but my initial post was in response to one saying that the poster couldn’t see any way we could improve the squad, there I disagree, I think we could do better, it would cost money and is a lower priority but if, for example, Martial doesn’t sign an extension and became available should we try and sign him then I’d say yes, same would go for someone like Brandt and the players to make way would for me be Lamela and Moura.
