So our relay team gets (rightly) disqualified for a changeover outside the box but the Yanks are fine to run outside their lane.

Just seen the BBC headline (Usain Bolt wins relay gold). I have to admit I'm impressed that Bolt managed to win the relay for Jamaica by himself.

They both should have been disqualified. Really don't like seeing Gatlin's smug face preening all over the sport.

I believe the rule is that if you step two feet in an opponents lane and disrupt them or gain an advantage its a dq. They gained no advantage and Jamaica didn't appeal so that is why the decision stood. Britain were rightly DQ which is infuriating as it was a very lapse changeover and very unnecessary.

It doesn't matter whether or not there is any obstruction or advantage. Running outside your lane is a disqualification in any track event.

Long jump as a whole seems to be regressing as an event. A runt of the litter type scenario where anyone with real speed naturally chooses the track without hesitation.

Would be awesome to see what Bolt could do for example. His career and physical condition might preclude that as a serious possibility. Besides, probably already way too late for him to start and be able to seriously challenge for medals at this point.

That was my highlight too, so exciting and nobody deserves success more than her. Britain as a team did pretty well really, im especially impressed with the attitude of the athletes. There is most certainly a determination to reach the very top in the young athletes which perhaps was lacking in the past. They seemed very disappointed to merely do hat was "expected of them", bodes well for future games.

She is absolute money when it comes to the big championships. Amazing to think of her successes and remember just how blighted with injuries she was for a long time.

Her silver last summer after another trying season the yr before was probably her most impressive run for me.

Most underrated athlete we've had in a long time.
