The main concerns are kane dele Trippier vertonghen. But even Trippier had quite a lot of rest last season. Dier rose alderweireld dembele (if still here) should be fine. It’s a real shame Son will be missing could have eased kane back in. A martial quality signing really would be very handy.

Anyone else worried about the start of the season?

Most of the players involved in the WC won't be ready.
Trippier possibly injured?
Kane either injured or exhausted or both

Trying not to be too pessimistic but I have my doubts about some of our 'second string' players. We might not see a full strength or near full strength team until late August/ September.

Yes I am worried, but the other top 6 teams in PL England all had quite a few players involved apart from The Woolwich they had least I believe.

Perhaps Sissoko will be our early season saviour

I’m not sure where the time is going to be found to give the players a proper rest and also be ready for a gruelling Poch preseason. Our cochaing staff are going to have to be very sensible. It’s going to be the second half of the season where they will struggle if they don’t get a proper preseason.

Tbh it’s crazy why PL didn’t start a week later. Think it actually starts earlier this season than last. There’s no tournament next summer seems like poor planning.

why are they going to need a gruelling Poch pre-season? The main point of going extra hard in pre-season is to get the players match sharpness and fitness after a 2 month break. The World Cup players have been maintaining their match sharpness with their respective teams.

They just need a couple of weeks to rest and recover and then return to training as normal. It'll be fine.

in some ways they have had their pre season, 7 high profile matches. they will be having 3 weeks off but being professional will not be returning to the club like those that have had 6-7 weeks off, which is only 1 more week than what will be happening the season after next with a 2 week break. it will effect all teams not just Spurs, I know we had more than some playing the last stages, but 2 of those most probably won't be ours by the start of it, so Man C, Chelsea and Man U will be in the same boat as us

edit: 2 seasons ago we had quite a few play in the Euro's we finished 2nd

This was being discussed on radio this morning and Mourinho only giving his players 2 weeks off for same reasons you mention. Most players had 10 days off before World Cup as well.

Kane looks absolutely knackered, after another season where we played him almost every match he was fit, and probably some where he wasn't. We really need to get a decent back up in and give him a rest now and again.

Kane has to get used to playing a lot of game he will have to improve he's fitness. The best players in the world play the most games.

I somehow think he's probably already used to playing a lot of games. The human body has its limits. It's not possible to play at peak performance for so many games every year. And it also increases the chance of injuries.

Anyone know how much time off our WC players get?

I would hope/expect that the club gave some thought before the tournament to the possibility of England and Belgium doing well and have plans in place for those players. At the latest, once Spain, Argentina and Germany were out a run to the semi-finals was a clear possibility for the England players. And Belgium were always expected to do well.

I'm not sure I buy the idea of two weeks on the beach doing nothing - there may be a beach but you'd expect they'd still be having some kind of daily diet/fitness routine tailored to these circumstances. It may not be ideal but hopefully the club have a plan in place to minimise the effects.

I will be surprised if it is less than 3 weeks. I expect Hugo and the English and Belgian players back on August 6 - with an outside shot at playing against Newcastle - depending on fitness.

Eriksen and Sanchez will be back for Girona on August 4.

ETA - I think Eriksen and Sanchez will be back sooner - but training on their own until the squad returns from America.

Harry wants to plays against Newcastle. I love his attitude but think Poch needs to have a word.

Kane in his interview today (check Kane thread) mentioned 2 weeks rest, so perhaps the WC players will be back training 30/31 July?

Eriksen, Vertonghen and Lloris played more. The WC players obviously won't be doing double training sessions as they haven't been on a beach all summer. They'll be fine. I swear some posters on here aren't happy unless there's some impending doom on the horizon. Just chill out.

Definitely a worry all round. Season starts in 3 weeks. Half the first team needing most of that that time in complete mental and physical rest before they can even consider a Pochettino pre-season.

Son missing for the first month.

6 or 7 transfers out and 3 or 4 proper, quality signings in required. Not squad players. 10 plus deals need to be done.

All away games at the start of the season, then 3 of our first 4 games at NWHL are Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City.

Other than that everything's sweet
