What an awful world cup, the quarter finals and semi finals are going to be so tinpot.

Honestly, this is the best world cup I can remember... And I'm 41.Happy to see some of the big teams get outdone by 'lesser' opposition. It's been thrilling on so many levels.

You could argue that Spain never wanted to play football either. Tippy tappy at a pedestrian pace isn't football.

It's not the same though, when we play West Brom etc they just waste time and get up to all kinds of tricks and shithousery, Russia were just too organised for a toothless Spain

Spain didn’t deserve to win that. Boring tiki taka football. Russia weren’t exactly stellar themselves, but they were massive underdogs. If Spain had been more incisive they’d have won. Oh and if Pique hadn’t cheated Russia wouldn’t have scored.

The good thing about Spain and tiki taka is I never have to wonder what a team full of Vinny Samways clones would play like.

But Ramos was holding a Russian shirt too. Probably not as strongly as Pique was held, but it was still a shirt pull. So why is it a clear and obvious foul on Russia but not a clear and obvious foul on Spain. It's why VAR is sticking with the refs decision when it comes to holding because it's very rarely one person doing all of the holding.

Ramos and the Russian was 50:50 both holding. It’s a wash.
Pique was held and dragged down no doubt.

Play football and they lose. It's been like this for years. Remember Greece winning the Euro's? btw Spain scored first and if it hadn't been for a moment of idiocy from Pique they'd be through now.

Personally I think we should've boycotted the WC and it should'nt have been held there. But that's for another discussion. But I'm not going to moan at Russia playing to their strengths and getting through.
