Nice to see two teams who are as abject as us try to lose on pens, that was shocking!

There's genuine tension between Bilic and O'Neill, it's so awkward to watch... can't believe they keep putting them together, they've been arguing since the opening games.

At least his was a decent effort.

Exactly. Can't fault him for a world class save.
Reckon Modric would be more concerned next time he has to front up. One saved and the other a dreadful tame down the middle that snuck past Schmeichel's legs

In this shootout and the one earlier you could virtually tell which players were going to miss their penalties.

Yeah the spider cam view really adds to the pen experience. Don't think all the grounds in this WC have it but some do.

I think it should be a requirement going forward, if you want to host a tournament all the stadiums should have this capability.

O'Neill thought about a comeback but just didn't have one.

Probably the right thing to do anyway, Bilic would crush his miserable face

Loved Kjaer's pen. Something satisfying when the ball is absolutely leathered in to the net. Not quite the accuracy of Kane, but a damn fine soccer kick.

Eriksen went to strike his penalty like a free kick, should have put his foot through it.

I was in agreement with you up until "soccer kick".

"IFAB has published changes to the laws of the game for the 2016/17 season, the most notable altering sending-off offences inside the penalty area...the law has now changed so that players committing accidental fouls, that deny a goal-scoring opportunity, are not automatically sent off, but cautioned instead. Players will still be sent off for holding, pulling or pushing, not playing the ball or having no possibility to play the ball, serious foul play, violent conduct or deliberate handball."

He went for the ball so therefore it isn't a red.

You aren't allowed to tackle from behind so I think he should get a red under "having no possibility to play the ball"

I’ve taken 3 pens in cup finals (in front of 7 humans and a Himalayan goat) but the thought of taking one in front of millions gives me palpitations just imagining the pressure.
I don’t understand the problem! If in doubt put your laces through it as opposed to stopping and having a cup of tea during the run up!
