No. Go and read through the Brazil game, see how many people complained about exaggeration, then read through the England game and you will see no one (many of the same people) complaining about it or mentioning it or just saying the Columbian guy was out of order. Then when I brought it up some even justified what Henderson did.

The onus on you to prove it; if it's the same people, fair enough. If the same people didn't criticise Henderson then that doesn't mean they approve of what he did- quite possibly they were more bothered about England to comment or like many people in the pub enjoying/transfixed with the game.

Just stop with this false narrative of xenophobia, it's incredibly dull.

I think there is a difference about rolling around when you haven't been touched and bringing violent conduct to the referee's (VAR's) attention that brought a yellow card (which should have been red).

For the second time, it was more hypocrisy I was pointing out initially. But it isn't a false narrative of xenophobia, there is definitely an element of it, on here, in the media, punditry etc. I still hear pundits suggest cheating is a "foreign thing" introduced by foreigners to the English game. A poster in this thread suggested South Americans as more likely to dive etc.

Just take the way the pundits and the commentator discussed Henderson. The whole World Cup commentators and pundits have been scoffing and proclaiming their disgust at exaggeration. Henderson did it and it was not mentioned in those terms at all. It was described as "Henderson rightly bringing the ref/VAR attention to an incident".

Which is what Neymar did. Both players completely exaggerated what happened to them. Neymar just did it a bit more. Clattenberg said the Neymar incident was also a red card.

Yes, Neymar's exaggeration was bigger than Henderson's but what Henderson did was embarrassing too, it was still way over the top.

I agree completely in terms of the media, but you said it was prevalent here.

Again if you can show how Joe Bloggs had a go at Neymar but then praised or approved of Henderson fair enough to some extent- though I think the element of contact/reaction was different. Both were stupid reactions.

Ignore Clattenberg, he's probably the worse ref to give an opinion. Neymar went down with out being touched and even didn't know if he'd been kicked or elbowed. Henderson had a head go into his chest the raised to his face ie violent conduct. Eric Dier said he had suffered a cut lip because of it. It wasn't embarrassing just maybe he'd had enough of the treatment being dished out without punishment which still didn't get the correct decision.

You've just negated any point you were trying to make.

Bit of a segue, but Clattenburg has been the biggest fucking annoyance so far in what has been a thoroughly enjoyable World Cup. I wish ITV would stop sucking his dick and cut that northern **** (no offence to any northern ****s who post on SC) from their coverage.

Never thought I'd long for Graham Poll.

Completely agree, The best ref they have on TV is Dermot Gallagher, liked him when he was a ref and on Sky.

Clatts shows that you can ref at the highest levels, but it doesn't mean you'll be good on TV. It's no different than players and managers. It's only a small group that has both the expertise and the ability to communicate it well to non-experts.

Yes but I don't support England , I support Spurs and the the Azzurri .

Most of the top PL teams have players still involved in world cup, Man City have eleven so all the top teams will have tired players at the start of the season apart from the Woolwich.

Yeah but you said top teams.........

watched the penalties again today. Harry Kanes penalty i so good especially as it was his 4th penalty in the tournament. How the hell can he be so calm? He is a true football genius.

Let me guess, media asked him a question about the match, John Stones answers, media turn it into a click bait headline so it seems like he's whinging, amirite?

He was quite outspoken but the most funny thing is that a petition have been signed by 200.000 people that want the game to be replayed because England was rewarded a penalty for ”a non-existing foul”. The foul on Kane is one of this tournaments clearest fouls, how can they argue with that decision?
